We are part of The Big Draw! Join us at the Mander Centre and contribute to what promises to be one of the largest public drawing projects Wolverhampton has ever seen, celebrating the rich tapestry of difference that the city of Wolverhampton holds at its heart. Over three days, participants will collectively create an evolving large-scale drawing that responds to the people, architecture, movements, stories and experiences that shape this vibrant urban space.

Inspired by ideas of psychogeography, the project invites participants to explore not only the physical environment of the shopping centre, but also its emotional, social and personal landscapes. Together, we will map encounters, memories, observations and imagined journeys, creating a shared visual record of the city and its communities.

Led by expert practitioners from Fine Art and Illustration within the University of Wolverhampton's School of Creative Industries, the event will offer creative guidance, drawing activities and opportunities for experimentation throughout. No prior drawing experience is needed. Just enthusiasm, curiosity, a willingness to take risks, and a desire to be part of something bigger.

Have you spotted our Future Threads posters and banners around the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton? 👀💚

There’s a brilliant story behind the designs, and it’s all about creativity, collaboration and giving emerging talent real-world opportunities!

As part of Future Threads, we partnered up with our Catwalk Sponsor, @tpsquaredltd, and our Award Sponsor @wlv_gd @wlvcreativeindustries at the University of Wolverhampton, to give graphic design students an exciting live brief 🤩

The challenge? To create a bold visual identity that would bring Future Threads to life across our marketing and promotional materials! 🎨

Students developed their own creative concepts, exploring everything from typography and colour to patterns and visual storytelling.

We then had the opportunity to visit the university, hear the students pitch their ideas and see the incredible creativity and thought behind their work.

And now, one student’s design has gone from a university project to being displayed across Wolverhampton’s shopping centre! @mandercentre 🙌

This is what meaningful collaboration looks like 🤝

Connecting education with industry, creating opportunities for young creatives and giving students the chance to see their work make a real impact. 🙏🏽

A HUGE thank you to Carolyn and Harriet at TP Squared, the University of Wolverhampton School of Creative Industries, lecturer Marc Austin for getting the students involved and everyone involved in making this happen. 💚

Today our second year @wlv_film students explored set design, lighting, atmospherics and prop dressing to create a gothic mansion in 120 minutes before recording a one shot. Our Art & Design Foundation Year students have been exploring the role of professional portraits across the creative industries - from LinkedIn profiles and artist websites to portfolios, social media and exhibition promotions.

The group considered how facial expression, posture and body language can communicate something about who we are, and how these decisions can help shape the way an artist, designer or creative practitioner is perceived.

At the end of the session, they put those ideas into practice one last time coming together for a group photo! 📷

⏳️ Getting ready for Thursday's launch of the first @sportforchangecities exhibition at the University of Wolverhampton.

Huge thanks to @wlvcreativeindustries @clairerichards.pics @clairebuckerfield @jakepunx for their hard work in preparation, plus all of the students and local content creators who have contributed. Looking forward to hearing from them on the evening!

The exhibition, which celebrates how local community organisations are using sport and physical activity to drive positive social change, will run throughout October and November - so plenty of opportunities to see it if you're passing through @wlvuni
