2025 - Katrina Collins Poetry Competition - "Hand-Me-Down"

I want to thank Briony & Oormila, for being shortlisted and published in the anthology! It really is an honour. This was a poem stirring up in me since childhood. Despite how distant my relationship felt with my father - within the family - there was always a quiet yearning for that connection. As I've grown older, I realised inheritance isn't always tangible: some things are handed down long before we know how to wear them.

PS: I was able to retrieve an old digital camera, tucking away childhood photos of our family. Funny how memories find their way back to us, if you really go digging for them. by @wm_arshall

2026 - Sonnet Challenge (YPN) - "before i lose you in the hospital room"

@thepoetrysociety !
A real honour to be a winner of this challenge! And for it to be an experimental sonnet! This poem really made me question what a "ghost" really is - someone who didn't choose to disappear, yet never meant to leave in the first place. And the grief that comes with losing someone so loved, lingers the question, where does that love go?

2024 Well Festival of Literature - "Willow Weep For You"

An insanely tough poem I wrote, recovering and articulating this experience into words since 2022, into a poem I dedicate to my momma. She's cancer-free, but man, I remember feeling low when my mom was weak, willow weeping everyday.
