I’ve been making a documentary about our local windmill in Rottingdean this summer, and meeting some of the craftspeople involved.

This is Paul, the millwright. He’s looked after the mill for more than 25 years, and you can see it in his hands. He’ll cheerfully give you the tour: “These three were sliced off and now they don’t really bend properly. Crushed this one... no wait, not that one, this one.”

The same hands made the doors of St Margaret’s Church. To Paul they’re just more tools, and tools get damaged and break all the time. #rottingdean #leicaq343 #leicaq3 #blackandwhite taken in Rottingdean Village, Sussex by @wmatthewsstroud

Currently making a documentary about Rottingdean’s iconic windmill which is higher than you think when you stand on the top! Been meeting some of the amazing craftspeople and custodians who devote so much time and care to preserving it. taken in Rottingdean Village, Sussex by @wmatthewsstroud
