🎉 Congratulations to this year’s Anderson Scholars, Adam Kolcon J.D. ’28 and @wmschoolofbiz student Fiorella Villacorta Torres BBA ’27! 🎉

Established by the Townebank Foundation in 2010 to honor Law School alum and community leader Alvin P. Anderson B.A. ’70 J.D. ’72, the Anderson Scholars program recognizes one law student and one business student annually.

At William & Mary Law School, we believe great lawyers are made through practice, not just theory.

This year marks the third year of our “Citizen Lawyers: Civil Discourse for Advocates” program, and an important milestone. For the first time, every current William & Mary Law student will participate in this training, making William & Mary the first law school to have its entire student body complete the program.

Built around a federal courts framework, the program sharpens the skills that matter most in legal practice: reasoned argument, active listening, and respectful engagement across disagreement.

The workshop features Judges Robin Rosenberg, Roger Gregory, and Shaniek Mills Maynard, along with Michael McAuliffe, J.D. ‘89. Local and regional attorneys will facilitate breakout sessions and small-group discussions, giving students the opportunity to apply these principles through practical exercises and conversation.
