The WMU Choirs are excited to welcome Dr. Abby Musgrove to campus this fall! After a national search, Dr. Musgrove will take over as Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities. Prior to her appointment at WMU, Dr. Musgrove led the choral programs at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Illinois College and taught secondary school music in Illinois. Dr. Musgrove holds degrees in Music Education and Choral Conducting from the University of Kansas, the University of North Texas, and Millikin University. She is the founder and director of the Springfield, IL based professional choir, the Spero Chamber Chorale. Dr. Musgrove’s research interests include historic and modern performance practices, developing choral solutions for small schools, and the science and physics behind aesthetics. She is a fan of science fiction, jeeps, archaeology, and tea. Abby lives in Portage, MI with her husband, Will and their daughter, Quincy. With her innovative programming and experience in collegiate and professional settings, Dr. Musgrove will be a great fit for the WMU Choirs, and we can’t wait to get back to singing! Look for more information about auditions and a chance to meet Dr. Musgrove in the very near future. by @wmuchoirs

The WMU Choirs and SWMVF festival singers enjoyed working with the amazing @atrecekking this week. Unfortunately, the festival was canceled due to a power outage in the city, but we still made music in the lobby of Miller auditorium! Some very special moments with Dr. Trecek-King and students from schools across West Michigan. Thanks to Kevin West, the SWMVF committee, @koryheitzig, and the @wmufinearts @westernmichu staff and faculty! by @wmuchoirs
