“Not wanting her to wiggle and fall out of my arms while I go up the stairs, I hold her tighter as I walk up each step.
“Which one is your—” I stop as I spot a door with a dancer painted on it. It’s beautiful, almost abstract, yet you can easily recognize the shape of a ballerina.“

“The familiar flip hit my stomach, and I spun and stepped, swayed and dipped, around the dance floor, feeling the energy of the music course under my skin.
And I smiled.
What I was doing wasn’t classical, and I probably would never perform it, but it was my fun time, and my parents weren’t home. My dad hated loud music, so I might as well have a party of my own up here while I could.“

“‘Is Your Love Strong Enough?’ started playing, and I closed my eyes, my mind immediately going to the choreography I always envisioned myself dancing to for every song I listened to. I loved dancing so much, and if my mom wasn’t asleep, I would blast some music downstairs and get to it.
When I danced and all I heard in my ears was the music, that was where I wanted to live forever.”

“Her excited eyes darted from me to Winter. “Does it feel good, Winter? Not too tight?”
The other girl, her almost white blond hair falling over one shoulder in beautiful waves grazed her fingers over the white feather gown, looking like a swan.”

“Man, back off!” a girl yelled. I turned my head to see Rika Fane pushing some guy away who had crashed into Winter Ashby. She just laughed, holding on to Erika’s arm as they scurried away.

“My hand knocked a model and “Carol of the Bells” began playing, and I knew it was the ice rink adorned with little trees and ice skaters.
I almost smiled. It was the Christmas village.”

“Winter Torrance,” the other girl approached slowly, holding out both hands.
I took hers shaking it. “It’s good to meet you all.”

“I know the real Ella. The empathetic girl, who cares about the people around her. The one who has feelings and doesn’t care whether her reputation is intact or not. My Ella is so beautiful inside and out it radiates on the rainiest days.”
