Wolff Web Designs didn’t start in a boardroom. It started at our kitchen table.

What began as helping a friend figure out their website slowly turned into something we genuinely love building together. We’re a husband and wife team with over 10 years of web experience, creating custom websites for startups and small businesses who want something thoughtful, functional, and true to who they are.

This isn’t a big agency. It’s just us — hands-on, invested, and committed to doing things the right way.

We’re really glad you’re here.

We’ve been posting tips and strategies for a few weeks now — and we realized we never actually introduced ourselves properly. 😄

So here it is. We’re Scott and Kathryn, a husband and wife team based in Minnesota, building websites for small businesses that deserve to be found online. We work with clients locally and across the country and we love both as it gives us a chance to travel.

We started this because we believe good design shouldn’t be out of reach for small businesses and because working with people who care deeply about what they do is genuinely one of our favorite things.

Swipe through and say hi. We’d love to hear from you! 👇

A lot of small businesses know they need a website… but they’re not sure where to start.

That’s where we can help.

At Wolff Web Designs we focus on three things:

• Custom website design
• Website support & maintenance
• Website consulting

Whether someone needs a brand new site or just help improving the one they already have, we work with them to build something that actually supports their business.

It’s the time of year when everything gets louder. Summer’s behind you, Q4 is loading up, and somehow your website just... stays the same as it was in July.

It’s such a normal thing when you’ve been busy juggling summer, trying to run a business, and keep things afloat everywhere else. The website’s been doing its thing quietly in the background and wasn’t sending you errors. So you didn’t think to give it attention.

But then you realize — fall’s halfway through and your site still has your summer plans on it. Or photos that feel a little dated. Or information that shifted three months ago.

The thing is? You probably don’t need as much of a fix as your brain is telling you right now. Usually it’s just a refresh with a few updates. Or maybe some new photos if the seasons matter to what you do.

What you need is 2 hours to sit down and decide what actually matters to update. We can help with that part.

Come chat with us in the comments or DMs. We’d love to help get things updated or even just talk through the items currently on your site.

We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been on a business’s website trying to answer one simple question: where do they even work or service?

No town. No map. Maybe a phone number with an area code if you’re lucky.

Here’s the thing. Your customer isn’t going to play detective. If they can’t tell in a few seconds whether you serve them, they go back to Google and click the next result.

This matters most if you travel to your customers: contractors, cleaners, landscapers, photographers who travel. But it helps almost everyone.

A few easy fixes:
→ Put your main town or region at or near the top of your homepage
→ List the actual towns you serve, not just “and surrounding areas”
→ Add your service area to your footer so it shows on every page
→ If it depends on the job, say how far you’ll travel

Bonus: naming the towns you serve also helps search engines show you to people searching in those towns.

Quick test: pull up your homepage on your phone. Can a stranger tell where you work without scrolling?

Save this for your next website update. 📌

We’re back and somehow it’s fall already! 🍂

The last few weeks were a mix of time offline, a website launch, and a lot of coffee outside while the leaves started turning.

Fall might be our favorite season to work. Things slow down just enough to think clearly. It’s also when a lot of small business owners look at their website and say, “Okay. This winter, we’re finally fixing it.”

If that’s you, no pressure. You’re in good company.

We’ve got more coming over the next couple of weeks, including another launch we are really excited about. More on that soon. 👀

Settle something for us, which is the best part of fall?
- Coffee ☕️
- Colors 🍁
- Or finally getting to wear a hoodie again 🧥

Katie Halverson’s been in construction for over 19 years and knows her way around additions, decks, siding work, and interior remodels. Her clients love her. They say things like “best contractor I’ve ever worked with” and “wouldn’t use anyone else.”

One thing was missing: a place for people to find her and see what she does.

So we built it.

Lotus Construction’s new website is live and we’re so very excited about this one.

Here’s what Katie now has:

📸 A full portfolio of her work — exterior and interior projects that speak for themselves
💬 Client testimonials that tell the real story — not generic reviews, actual people saying why she’s worth hiring
🎯 Clear information about services, timeline, and how to contact her
👩‍💼 Her story — woman-owned, detail-oriented, passionate about craftsmanship

Visit lotusconstructionmn.com to see the full site.

To everyone in Park Rapids and the Heartland Lakes area looking for quality construction work: Katie’s your person. And now you know where to find her.

Huge thanks to Katie for trusting us to build this with her. This is what we love doing — helping skilled people show up online the way they deserve to.

Here’s the thing about being a skilled contractor: your reputation spreads fast within your community.

But outside that circle? They don’t know you exist.

Katie Halverson has been in construction for 19+ years. Her work is incredible which leads clients to rave about her. She has many testimonials related to her completed work and she is an amazing person.

But if you’re not in her immediate network, how would you know about her?

That’s where a website comes in.

We built Lotus Construction’s site to do one thing: let Katie’s work speak for itself.

Portfolio gallery showcasing exterior and interior projects. Testimonials from clients who’ve already seen her craft. Easy contact form. Information that answers the questions people actually have: What can she build? How long does it take? Can I see your past work?

It’s all there now.

Katie’s a woman-owned business in the Heartland Lakes area doing exceptional work. She deserves visibility. She deserves clients who find her online and immediately think “This is the person I want building my space.”

Website launches Wednesday, 9/16.
Meet Katie and see what she can do for your home.

Meet Katie Halverson. She’s been in construction for 19+ years — framing, siding, decks, interior remodeling, you name it. She knows her craft inside and out.

For years, she had one common problem: no good way to showcase her work online.

Word of mouth got her clients, but how could someone in the Heartland Lakes area find her? How could they see past projects? Browse testimonials? Get a sense of who she is?

They couldn’t.

So we built the Lotus Construction website from the ground up. Showcase for her portfolio. Testimonials from past clients (glowing ones, by the way). Information structured so people can actually learn about what she does and reach out.

Woman-owned. Detail-oriented. Built by someone who cares.

The full site goes live Wednesday, 9/16.
Check back to see what we built with Katie.

Your site speed matters more than you think.

Here’s the reality: if your site takes more than 3 seconds to load, you’re losing people. Not later. Right then. They’re gone.

Mobile traffic is growing. People are on spotty wifi. They’re impatient. They don’t wait.

A slow site also signals that your business isn’t professional or up-to-date. Same impact as outdated design — trust drops before the page even loads.

Speed isn’t just a technical thing. It’s a business thing. Every second of load time is costing you visitors and potential customers.

This is why we build on ShowIt. It’s fast, built for mobile, and it doesn’t require your site to do three things at once just to display your homepage.

Test your site speed. Right now. On mobile. If you’re above 3 seconds, something’s wrong.

Design isn’t about looking pretty. It’s about communication.

Every choice matters—spacing, hierarchy, color, what you emphasize, what you downplay. These aren’t decoration. They’re instructions.

When someone lands on your site, they make snap judgments based on design alone:
- Does this feel professional?
- Is this easy to understand?
- Do I trust this person?
- Do I know what to do next?

Good design answers those questions in seconds. Bad design creates confusion.

A cramped homepage with 15 different things fighting for attention? That feels chaotic and your intended audience doesn’t know where to focus.

Clean spacing with clear priorities? That feels much more intentional.

Bold headlines on your best work? That says “trust this.”

Buried CTAs hidden down the page? That says “we don’t really want you to reach out.”

Your design is telling a story. Make sure it’s the right story.

This one comes up in almost every audit we do and website conversation we have.

The site looks fine with a clean design, nice photos, and clear information. But something is still off.

Nobody’s calling or reaching out from the website. Visits have gone flat. People leave within seconds. Bounce rate is through the roof.

And the business owner says, “I thought my site was working.”

Here’s the thing—a site can *look* good and still not be *working* as a business tool.

A working site:
- Gets people to actually take action (call, email, fill out a form)
- Helps visitors understand what you do in seconds
- Works fast and looks great on mobile
- Makes it obvious what to do next
- Actually represents your business accurately

If your site feels off, it probably is. Trust that instinct. Most of the time it’s fixable.

Let’s chat if this is something you are struggling with and see if we can get your site working well for you.
