Simon recently visited Confetti College in Nottingham to run a training workshop with over 40 students on the Technical Events (BTEC) Level 3 Extended Diploma.

The course teaches young people the ins and outs of the live events industry, from PA systems and rigging to lighting equipment and techniques, as well as recording, mixing and stage management.

The day kicked off with the students building an impressive lighting rig and patching their fixtures. Simon then led a demo of the Wolfmix W1 and WING before giving everyone hands-on time across five dedicated demo stations.

The students’ feedback centred on how accessible and easy to learn Wolfmix is compared to other lighting control systems they’ve used. That’s exactly why it’s a great tool for programmers of every experience level.

Supporting education, youth projects and young people starting their careers in lighting is incredibly important to us. We’re proud to be part of sessions like this and look forward to running many more. 🐺 taken in Confetti College by @wolfmixcontrol

Had tons of fun doing the lights for @808stateofficial last night! @ap.audioltd brought along their Danley sound system which sounded phenomenal, and it gave me a chance to really go deep on the forthcoming @wolfmixcontrol WING, and some fixtures from @colorkeyled - all of which I’ll be reviewing soon. If nothing else, the night has made me think once my ears are finally too wrecked to DJ anymore, perhaps I could enjoy being an LJ instead, stood in the corner with my earplugs in 😜 #beaporttech by @wolfmixcontrol

🐺 Wolfmix Ambassador Focus: Cyril Blache 🇫🇷

Our monthly Ambassador Focus continues, where we highlight DJs and lighting pros around the world using Wolfmix creatively in their work.

This month, we’re spotlighting French DJ Cyril Blache (@cyril.my.events.music). Cyril started out at a young age using CD turntables and basic switch boxes to run his lights manually. After returning from a 15-year break, discovering Wolfmix 5 years ago changed everything for him. He picked up a W1 at his local music store and spent entire nights mastering every single feature.

What won Cyril over instantly was the live responsiveness, ultra-compact design, and the freedom to walk around the venue, Wolfmix in hand, fine-tuning beam positions to the millimeter.

Cyril specializes in high-end weddings and private events, while also providing custom DMX programming for venues and other DJs. His workflow centers around a comprehensive "Master" project file. For each show, he duplicates this reference setup and adapts the patch to the venue's layout and fixtures.

His versatile rig combines visual dynamics and live stage effects: 12x spot moving heads, motorized LED bars, wireless battery PARs, low-lying fog, smoke bubbles, blinders, DMX geysers, and cold sparks. Leveraging the MOVE FX, Presets, and Live Edit modes, Cyril creates tailored shows. "The best moment is undoubtedly the emotional reaction of the bride and groom discovering a fully customized light show during their room reveal."

His advice for DMX beginners? Take it step-by-step. "For DJs less drawn to pure technology, the DMX world can seem overwhelming at first. Don't hesitate to surround yourself with others, ask questions, and exchange ideas with passionate technicians."

Since Cyril regularly uses an Akai MIDI controller alongside his Wolfmix, he is excited to get his hands on WING to bring physical faders to his light shows and improve his setup.
