Wolfgang Saker's 𝘡𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘶𝘴 (2023) remains one if the artist's most memorable yet malleable works. The kaleidoscopic video work is continuously shown in collaboration with a variety of musicians and sound designers. Who would you like to hear score Saker's work in 2025?

𝘼𝑹𝙏 𝙁𝑶𝙍 𝘼 𝙃𝒀𝙋𝑬𝙍𝑴𝙀𝑫𝙄𝑨 𝑾𝙊𝑹𝙇𝑫

When I talk to Wolfgang Saker (@wolfsaker) it’s a hypertext conversation; every topic we discuss seems to open up a new one and we discuss abstract expressionism and digital readymades and projections and Rust and the destruction of “fine art” and handmade meat hammers and Sonic giving birth and $8.50 wine in galleries and how even something crude but immersive can feel as real as the real thing and then and then —

𝙄𝙛 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙖 𝙜𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙩? 𝘼𝙣𝙙, 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩?

The stream is done, but the chaos has just begun! Revisit Wolfgang Saker's 'Death of The Six Packs (Prized Possessions),' an immaterial exhibition and the debut of the Australian painter's digital gallery 'absence of value and meaning' (AVM). Created entirely in the hyper-reality of Rust, an online multiplayer survival game, Saker has cobbled together a mixture of scavenged digital assets under constant risk of destruction by other users in the game. AVM exists in a hostile wasteland that parodies the culture wars that devastate online discourse and cultural critique. Ultimately AVM and Saker's original works evoke a Duchampian satire as Saker's hard work both exists in a creative, post-internet limbo.

See more from Wolfgang Saker and AVM at www.darlings.gallery and Artsy. Links can be found in our bio.
