Today is National Moon Day!While many of us associate the moon with its beauty in the night sky, this day actually commemorates the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, a moment that forever changed the way we see our world. For this week’s Mindful Monday, @womansdaymag resident meditation teacher, Lindsey Benoit O’Connell, is sharing a simple practice inspired by that same sense of perspective. Research has found that experiences of awe, whether it’s gazing at the stars, looking out over the ocean, or simply watching the moon rise, can help quiet mental chatter, reduce stress, and leave us feeling more connected to something bigger than ourselves. So tonight, before you head inside, take one minute to look up. Notice the moon, take five slow breaths, and give yourself a moment to pause. Sometimes the smallest shift in perspective can make all the difference. by @womansdaymag

Nearly 10 years ago, we ripped out the boys’ closets and designed this European-inspired closet wall. It remains one of my most favorite home projects, providing a streamlined system with 8 drawers, 14 shelves and concealed hanging space without eating up any precious floor space.I spent hours(!) styling the shelves and making labels so the amazing @juliadags 📸 could capture it for the latest issue of WD. (No, it’s not normally that neat and the boys do have more clothes 😜)Catch the issue on stand July 21! #closet #closetorganization #builtins by @womansdaymag

I picked up a hook because I wanted something to do with my hands that wasn’t scrolling. What I didn’t expect was that it would become the only place in my life where a mistake costs me nothing. I just pull it out and begin again. If you’re curious to start crocheting, comment STITCH and I’ll send you my free beginner’s guide 🧶 by @womansdaymag

Your bedtime routine probably includes brushing your teeth and setting your alarm. But what about helping your brain clock out for the night? Our minds have a tendency to hang on to unfinished tasks, unanswered emails, and tomorrow’s to-do list. Psychologists call this the Zeigarnik effect, which describes our brain’s tendency to keep thinking about incomplete tasks. One simple way to quiet that mental chatter is to give your brain a sense of closure before bed. That’s exactly what our resident meditation teacher, Lindsey Benoit O’Connell, is sharing in today’s reel. Before turning out the lights, she does what she calls a “closing ceremony” by writing down:✨ One thing that went well today.✨ One thing that’s still unfinished.✨ One small first step she’ll take tomorrow.By giving your brain a plan for what’s next, you may spend less time mentally rehearsing it once your head hits the pillow.Try it tonight and see if your mind feels a little more ready to call it a day. by @womansdaymag
