In janurary, something else really special happened. My friend Chris asked me if I wanted to dj his birthday party. 🤯 “I don’t know how to dj” I responded, and Chris didn’t hesitate. He said, “I know. I’ll teach you.”

Six months before that, before we were better friends, we were with on a weekend trip with a crew for the summer solstice. I had worked up the courage to ask him if maybe he would show me the basics. The next night we sat down and he quickly went over how a basic dj deck works. I fiddled with the controls, and quickly decided it was too complicated and not for me. I’ve always loved music- I sang in choir, learned how to play the trumpet and simple guitar, and took piano lessons for 12 years. I used to pour hours into making mixed CDs for my friends. I wanted to make sure the flow made sense, and I would design art work for the CD label that I would then print out and stick on. I made a series of mixes I called “Feisty Mixes” and was thrilled when one of my friends played it on her college radio.

But I’ve always considered myself not tech savvy and felt intimidated by the software and all the buttons and knobs. I didn’t know anyone who spun. So I became an avid concert goer, festival attendee, and audiophile. I thought it would just stay at that, and for the most part, it has.

But in janurary, in the midst of moving back to the city and my first dance performance in 18 years, Chris sat down with me and patiently walked me through the process- from telling me what software to download to the basics of a control deck. I had spent a lot of time working on the flow of songs (too much, really), and had only a few hours to practice on the actual controller. Despite all that-I did it.

In an intimate wine bar to a room full friends (who I knew had my back even if I bombed), I played my first one hour set. It was mostly just cross fading, but it didn’t matter. I did something I really never thought I would learn to do. Here’s to learning new skill in your 30s, and to friends who believe in you 🍷♥️🥰. by @womazzle

Playing the @palette.sf Flamingo stage at @patiyochella with @zekerofficial and Will Lande was the best! It was a great day and I am so appreciative of everyone who came out to raise money for the @oaklandelizabethhouse. The technical term for a group of flamingos is a flamboyance and we all embodied that on Saturday in a big way🔥🦩💗! I can’t thank everyone enough for supporting the event and grooving on the dance floor. I can’t wait for what’s next 👀.

Only a year late, but I finally made the pilgrimage to Burning Man in 2025. It was so fun but also so, so hard. Witnessing such incredible art and being in awe of what humans can imagine, engineer, and execute is such a beautiful remind of the magic that is within all of us. The effort it takes to live in the middle of a lake bed is not small, and it challenges friendships, relationship, and the human condition. I personally was in a tough spot in my life last year and burning man will bring everything you’re struggling with straight to the surface. It’s humbling. It’s hard. It’s also the most fun and the closest you can get to living inside a technicolor cartoon 🌈🪩 while simultaneously living in a mud pit 😂🙈. Until next time, and f*ck your burn! by @womazzle

Wowwwww outside lands was such a surprise gift- from not thinking I was going to experiencing Saturday and Sunday- it was such a dream!! ✨ So much gratitude to our beautiful city and the many incredible teams who crushed it. 🪩Extra special should out to @devzaky and @vvvitalman who worked hard and danced harder 🔥. Also the most major Happy Birthday and happy bachelorette @dschrimmer, unbelievably lucky to be in your orbit 🎂. To new friends, amazing sets, LOUD sound, and the most beautiful park in the world- I love you!!

Whew July was an huge one. Ups, downs, high lows- but mostly highs! I welcomed in another year around the sun, helped throw the first east bay pallet collab with patiyochella, shredded dance floors, connected deeper with friends, and laughed my ass off. So grateful for everyone who supported me, danced with me, helped me welcome in my birthday, held space for me while I cried and ushered in growth. Let’s go for August!! by @womazzle

Had the pleasure to get back on the dance stage with @popstarbootycamp and my dancing queen @quinncohane at the end of May. This time we did KATSEYE’s Touch and Gabriella. Quinn and I were so so tired after a busy weekend and I could not be prouder of us- our best run was our performance run! Huge shout out to @chriddyp, Chris’s dad, Alisa, and @macrael for coming to support and stuff into a hot bar to support their friend’s hard work. Being back in my dancer body has filled my cup so much and I could not be more thankful for being back. (Also, am I falling in love with K pop and KATSEYE? YES 🤣). by @womazzle

First East Bay Palette with @patiyochella recap!

So much fun bringing flamingos and funk to our first ever mini festival stage! Together Will Lande, @zeker and @womazzle held down eclectic electro beats between some serious live sets of metal, soul, hip hop, and punk!

Patiyochella and Palette are both amazing examples of Bay Area communities of creatives who support one another, and it was special to see the two communities working together to raise money for a good cause.

Huge congratulations to Patiyochella on 7 amazing years of growth! Shoutout to everyone who came to shake their tail feather! Who will we partner with next?? 👀

This was a huge year for @patiyochella! This amazing event stated as a small party in my friend @dj__axe’s backyard and is now in its seventh year- and this time it was bigger than ever. Patiyochella added an acoustic stage and @palette.sf was honored to be invited to produce the DJ stage. It brought together two communities who see magic in one another and made Saturday a super special day of music, community, and friends. It was a massive, successful undertaking for their fearless leader Kelsie who was supported by her family, friends, and past patiyochella legends.

I was honored to be entrusted by @palette.sf’s fearless leaders to make produce the stage and palette proud. I could not have done it without @zekerofficial and Will Lande who had my back every step of the way. I am so thankful to everyone who came to support one another and found some amazing new music, food, and more!

A huge shoutout to all the amazing musicians and bands, and again to all the volunteers who made the event possible. The Bay Area is such special place full of such amazing talent and I am so honored to be a part of it.
