I am beyond thrilled to announce that I have been nominated and selected as a top finalists in the Community Builder Award category for the 7th annual Small and Might Awards! 💜🥳💜

I’m not in this for recognition and awards, but this does show me that I am actually doing some greatness for and with my community - and that to me is the best compliment! That what I do matters! That what I do is making a meaningful impact! I’m not in this for me! I’m in this for you and me, for us, for all of us! 💜🥳💜

It’s because of beer that an entire world of opportunities and meaning has opened up to me 💜🍻💜

Thank you to all my amazing mentors like @veggiegreggie from @markhamdogalliance, Mary Ann and the team at @markhamboardoftrade, Vance and the team @markhammuseum, Michelle at @communitycraftbeerfestival, Randy and Monica at @visitmarkham , Roxy and April and many more awesome women of @beerbabesfamily , @eightonmainboutique @solacemassagetherapy @vassoridesherbike @pinnedupbralounge @precisionbeauty_markham , and the @femcitymarkham leadership team ! And all the amazing women who I’ve had the absolute pleasure of collaborating and partnering with over the years!!! 💜🥳💜

Stay tuned …

Hi! 💜 Starting off 2024 by introducing myself and letting you get to know a little about me, the creator of this page 🥳

My name is Kristan. (Yes spelled with an A - nope no fridge magnet or mug with my name exists 😂😢 - truly one of a kind).

I picked this pic of me for many reasons. First, it’s to let you know how much I prioritize mental health. Not only for myself but also for ensuring everyone has the tools, resources and support they need to build and maintain their own mental health.

Second, work life balance is so important to a positive mental health! I work a full time job in the consulting construction industry as a PM and I work part time to help support my partner’s(Jordan) business @rougeriverbrewery as the Events & Community Outreach Manager. I volunteer on the planning committee with the @mvmfestival and @wintersongfest 🎶🎸🥁🎤. I work a lot, it’s true, but I also make time for things that bring me joy, self-care and positivity.

So why did I start this page?

I see the importance, value and need in connecting Markham’s female local businesss together. This page is a one stop shop directory of sorts for female owned/operated/managed businesses. It’s a page to connect female businesses together who want to support other female businesses. Together we can go further and strengthen our local Markham community if we support each other instead of competing or bashing each other. Please no hate here in this space. Love is for all! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

My goals for this page?

To share all your wonderful business posts to help spread the word of your business and to increase your customer base.

I won’t be posting many of my own posts on this page - maybe the odd quote - I’m a sucker for quotes!

This is our female businesses community and together we will do great and wonderful things 💜💜💜 by @womenofmarkham

Last week we had the incredible opportunity to attend the @daretorisefoundation launch party at the beautiful @royal.rose.gallery 💜💜💜

This much needed initiative is led by some amazing women @jamafacebeauty , @elementaltruth.ca and @andreamacleodart 💜💜💜

We look at our DARE TO RISE morning coffee mug each day and are instantly re-inspired to dare to rise to the occasion, to step up for our local community and for those who needs us the most.

We got to meet the incredible artist @andreamacleodart - her work is stunning!!! 💜💜💜

Together we Dare to Rise and we can’t wait to see what comes next with @daretorisefoundation 💜💜💜 by @womenofmarkham
