The Ace of Cups is commonly thought to mean abundance and the art is indicative of that. The cup in the RWS art is overflowing in five places which is thought to mean the five senses. But the word that really struck me this past week is receptivity. The cup is in an open hand and that hand is ready to receive. What wonderful things can we receive from the Ace of Cups? A few of the card’s guidebooks spoke of compassion, joy, creativity, and one of my favorites was unconditional self-love. As someone who struggles with self-worth issues, I embraced this meaning. Unconditional self-love almost seems unattainable sometimes, but after pulling and studying the Ace of Cups, I can see it. Am I receptive to that self-love? Am I willing and able to receive it with an open hand? Are you?

I didn’t record a video for the deep dive of the Ace of Cups as I haven’t been feeling well this week. Please feel free to check out my other deep dive videos on my YouTube channel, Wonder Guild. by @wonderguild01

The Ace of Cups is a card about overflowing emotions, creativity, and happiness. It is also a card about receptivity. Art on many Ace of Cups cards shows an open hand holding the cup, an open hand to receive with. With the Magic the Gathering card, Abundance, there is an element of choice in what you are receiving. You are able to choose between a land or a non-land card instead of drawing whatever card is on top of your library. While you do get to choose what kind of card you want with Abundance, you still must be willing to accept whatever land or non-land you turn over. Would the certainty of choosing a land or non-land card convince you to play Abundance?

The Wheel of Fortune is exactly that- a wheel. It can even be called the wheel of life and is constantly spinning with never a break. When you are riding the wheel of life, there are ups and downs. With those times at the top, life is wonderful and enjoyable and when we are at the bottom of the wheel, life is less than fun. The word that kept coming up this week during my studies was “change”. And it suits since life is transitional. It’s important to remember that all things pass. Both the good and the bad only have a limited amount of time affecting us and if we can value and enjoy the good moments, it will make the bad moments less awful knowing that the wheel keeps on spinning. Some of the advice given on dealing with the ride of the Wheel of Fortune involves finding your center, getting to the center of the wheel rather than riding the rim. On the rim, we will feel every little bump and it will be a rough ride, but if we center ourselves, we may be able to feel a little calm while we ride. Find your center, put on your seatbelt, and ride because we have no control over this particular journey, but we can position ourselves so that it is less like a hell ride and more of a gentle one.

To see the full analysis, take a look at the newest video uploaded to my YouTube channel, Wonder Guild.

You would think that with a card called Wheel of Fortune available , it would be the perfect choice for the Wheel of Fortune tarot card. Truthfully, though, that would be way too easy. Much of the Wheel of Fortune tarot card meanings talk about its cyclical nature. It is always spinning and what goes up must come down. As we spin on the Wheel, we will good times and bad times. The card that does that well is Wheel of Misfortune. You have some control on what will happen to you. You choose a number secretly. Choosing the lowest number means nothing will happen, choosing the highest number results in losing life, and if you choose a number in the middle, you discard your hand and draw seven cards. Reminds me of the advice to find the center of the wheel for a smoother ride. Do you play the Wheel of Misfortune?

What is dynamism? Dynamism is the quality of being dynamic and dynamic means constantly changing, growing, or full of energy. This word, dynamic, describes the Knight of Wands to a tee. The knight is full of energy, overflowing with passion, and ready for adventure. He (or she) is fearless, enthusiastic, courageous, and bold. They almost sound larger than life and in some ways, any person who portrays Knight of Wands energy is just that. There is a risk, though, of that energy not surviving the long haul. It reminds me of the fable of the tortoise and the hare. The hare is fast and agile and quick to sprint ahead. The tortoise is slow and methodical. If you remember the end of that story, the tortoise wins the race, not because he is faster but because the hare cannot keep up his pace all the way until the end.

So how do we bring the energy of the Knight of Wands to our own lives without burning out? Lindsay Mack describes the knight as a reminder to enjoy life for all its worth and find ways to insert more joy into our everyday lives. Beyond being joyful, we can use this energy in creative ways. Allow your intuition to influence what you decide to pursue, be a little foolish and over the top while following your spark, and experiment with new things on your creative journey. Avoid burnout by spreading those energetic bursts and not overdoing it. We can be the Knight of Wands and use our experiences to make smart decisions. What is something new you can pursue while embracing Knight of Wands energy?

Check out the full deep deep dive on the Knight of Wands video on my YouTube channel, Wonder Guild, to discover how I drew these conclusions.

Kindle the Carnage is a pretty fantastic card to represent the Knight of Wands in my weekly studies this week. The Knight of Wands is passionate, driven, and is always seeking adventure. He knows what he wants and he goes and gets it. That’s the positive. The negative is that he is impetuous and quick to act often without thinking. There is inherent risk in the decisions he makes while trying to reach his goals. Often his energy is easy to spark and flame, but quick to die out from overdoing it.

Kindle the Carnage is a sorcery so you get that rush of power that then fades once the spell has resolved. You discard a card at random so you don’t know what you are going to lose to your graveyard, but whatever it is, it will deal damage equal to its mana value to each creature. Then you can choose to take the risk again and again and again if you like. This energy is very like the Knight of Wands- eager to move, passionate about his interests, but takes risks that could backfire.

I was able to buy a deck i didnt realize how badly I wanted on Mercari for $7 with a first time user coupon. I got the Pride Tarot. Its a collaborative deck from many well-known artists in the tarot world. I am in love with it.

I especially like the two cards by Lynyrd-Jim Narciso. He is the artist who created Tarot de Maria Celia, my marseille deck. Hope you all enjoy seeing the art. The guidebook also has pretty nice entries for such a small book and is completed by each artist.
