This is the PERFECT pattern for anyone branching out in their stitching journey‑‑the ideal first project for knitters looking to dabble in Tunisian crochet. Shalda Creek Afterglow is our August 2026 installment of the Sleeping Bear Yarn Club. Dyed for us by the talented Jeanne of destinationyarn in Cleveland, Ohio. As the sun slips below the horizon, Shalda Creek reflects one last burst of summer light before giving way to evening. Deep violets, midnight blues, and glowing embers of coral and gold drift across the sky, mirrored in the quiet water winding through the forest. This colorway captures that fleeting northern Michigan moment—when the day lingers just a little longer, the pines become silhouettes, and the landscape settles into peaceful stillness.

There’s a human I know—a friend—whose talent is as strong as the metal she works with. She’s been through every kind of fire and come out forged, resilient, and inspiring. But her talent… oh, her talent. I’ve never seen anything like it. Her work is brilliant in design—sophisticated, intricate, and undeniably tough.

I love seeing how makers can create beautiful things from their minds. Every piece begins as a flat sheet of rather unimpressive metal. It’s like pulling out a plain piece of white paper. I see nothing there, but someone else can see moving origami birds.

That example doesn’t quite capture it. Many talented people can make jaw-dropping origami. But moving, therapeutic jewelry? That’s a Dana C. Fear original. She isn’t duplicating another artist’s style, and you won’t see anyone else doing this.

Bee Well’s founder, Liz, sat down with @eyecandyquilts for their final chat of 30 Days of Dopamine.

Bee Well is a creative multi-purpose space across from @woolandhoney shop that serves the Cedar area & surrounding Leelanau County community with art classes, support groups, get-togethers, or even as a quiet spot that you can go to away from whatever busyness is getting to you that day. It’s for children and adults alike, and we are working to keep it community funded and accessible
