Good morning!!

Woolies will be taking time off from Truro Farmers Market Cooperative for a few weeks.

Per usual, if there is anything Woolies that you are looking for, please send a message or email ruth@woolies.ca. Susan next to me from Snow Designs is happy to bring orders to the market for me.

There are plenty of projects here at the farm and my Harmeny Woolen Mill that need attention before “the snow flies”.

Quick trip to PEI today to drop off wool to the amazing and historic MacAuslands Woolen Mill. One of the 3 longest running and largest mills in Canada!

My wool & many other deliveries are shipped in breathable square packs made specially for wool so it will breathe and not sweat (which would, over time, damage the wool). It’s a busy place so local wool totes are right to the delivery door.

Inside MacAuslands are a little bit of most items from slippers to blankets and dyed wool & yarn!

So the chickens are loving to free range all over the farm just now! “I’m getting in my steps” as they say.

Tonight’s supper hour (for those with regular supper hours). Everyone is calm😊

So it’s been another minute since my last post.

I now have 2 clutches of chickens, surprise! The Frizzell ones in the pic were the 1st group of 7.

The 2nd group as still babes with they feisty protective mother. Photos will come later. Wyatt my Pyrenees learned this after he had a chuck in his mouth and got chased out of the barn with it by the mother. He spit it out and all was well. Photos to come when they leave the barn.

Then… I open up my duck house per normal and what do I see but a bunch of Indian Runner ducklings… so I started the year with 5 ducks, then a school kindly hatched some eggs for a project and that was 11, now another 10! It’s a big year for ducks!

So I go to the feed store to pick up some barley and what do I see on the dock but “started” turkeys. It’s 4;45. It’s a hot afternoon. So what did I come home with but 4! These turkeys needed a home and I was there so…you can figure out the rest!

The lambs are coming along nicely too.

2 chicks that passed in the night!

Last night’s dusk with a very full moon provided lots of light for these free ranging meat chickens.

Most of the other chicks were in the yard awaiting going into their “cottage”. This sounds so much better than “shed”!

A few recent farm pics…

My Great Pyrenees makes a great barrier to the chicken house.

My sheep and goat are loving Dueck’s carrot tops from trurofarmersmarket. Great way to share more if the carrot plants.

The meat chickens are 3.5 weeks old now and enjoying the great outdoors ( when my dog doesn’t block the door that is).

The Indian Runner and Saxony ducks have grown so much these last few months. Hard to believe they were hatched in May.

My new Scotch Collie pup is growing like a weed and keeping a close eye on the sheep, plus ducks, plus plus other critters.

I love my old barn against the evening sky. I thought other folk might like it also!

It’s been a busy week this week….

Black currants are ripe -still need to pick some trurofarmersmarket I’m taking orders for berries for tomorrow meetup

Two sets of twin lambs arrived💕with 2 more ewes yet to lamb.

New chicks are under my sitting frizzle hen…5 that I could see with more that she had covered by her large wingspan! Pics to follow.

5 year composted sheep manure going out the door today-ask how to get yours for the fall plantings or next years garden prep.

And hay making is late but organized for the next few drying series of days.

Summer farming is always hopping!

These 3 things are not like the others…new puppy, new kittens, new sourdough trial…

New “barn kittens” are still living in the house…

New working puppy Scotch Collie arrived last Thursday …

First attempt at sourdough anything, mostly eaten but not my best baking …Will try again.
