This week, you get to hear from a few friends of mine. Dear friends, friends that I trust, friends that have so much wisdom and encouragement to offer you. It may be just a helpful tip or words of wisdom, but no matter what, I promise it's going to be something valuable. If you haven't listened yet, this one is a must-listen! You get to hear from @naptimekitchen, @laracasey, @chrystalhurst, @ashlynscarter, @shuntagrant, @emilyayerthomas, and @katschmoyer... all in ONE episode! Episode 110 - A happy two year anniversary to the Work & Play Podcast! by @workandplaypodcast
We are celebrating two whole years of this podcast, Work and Play with Nancy Ray! You are going to hear from a few friends of mine—dear friends, friends that I trust, friends that have so much wisdom and encouragement to offer you. A lot of these friends have been on the podcast before, I've interviewed several of them, so they might be familiar to you. All of them have contributed to this birthday party, to this encouragement. They're all going to speak life to you, give you some encouragement or advice. You might be familiar with them, but even if you're not, I want you to know they are people that I deeply respect and admire, and if something they say resonates with you, I'd encourage you to find them online or on social media. All of their links are in the show notes, because what they said in this episode is just the tip of the iceberg of what they have to offer. I love them dearly and I'm so grateful for them. Episode 108: Book | Sleep Smarter There are actual hormonal changes going on inside your body and inside your brain while you're scrolling right before you go to bed, because you're releasing these dopamine hormones that are tied to wakefulness and alertness and motivation versus the contentment and relaxation that comes from serotonin. - @nancyray Click the link in our profile to listen to this episode! #workandplaypodcast #workandplay by @workandplaypodcast
Episode 108: Book | Sleep Smarter I'll be honest—I almost took this book off of my reading list this year, because I felt like it was cruel and unusual punishment to myself to read a book about sleep the year that I would have a newborn baby. Like, why am I thinking and reading all about how to get good sleep knowing I am going to be sleep deprived no matter what? BUT I'm really glad I kept it on the list and read it anyway, because it's helping me now in pregnancy and the tips and lessons that I've learned in this book will help me understand my body and maximize my sleep even during that newborn phase, as hard as it's going to be, as well as prioritizing sleep for our whole family for years to come. I get pretty nerdy today—fair warning! But I'm really excited about all that. We're going to learn together. Also, I wanted to give you a heads up! Next month, the whole month of May, I'll be dedicating it to our mamas. Any listener who’s a mama—it’s for you. We did this last year and I called it May is for Mamas and we are doing it again, so stay tuned! I am excited for what's to come. Episode 107: How I'm Simplifying My Work This Year When you don't have a lot of time to do your work, you have to get really organized with how you spend your time, and be really intentional with it. - @nancyray Click the link in our profile to listen to this episode! #workandplaypodcast #workandplay by @workandplaypodcast
Episode 107: How I'm Simplifying My Work This Year In a lot of ways my work has really been simplified for me—I'm going on eight months of no childcare other than the two days that my kids are at preschool and kindergarten. I have been forced to be really strategic and simplified with my time and my plans. This week on the podcast, I'm sharing ways that I took things off of my plate, got organized and really simplified my work and my goals this year, and moving forward! Episode 106: Email Ninja 1. Only check your inbox 1-2 times/day MAX. 2. Set the times you'll check it. (ex. 10am & 2pm) 3. You only check emails for ONE hour at a time. Listen to today's episode for more email boundary suggestions, and to learn how to be an #emailninja! #workandplaypodcast #workandplay by @workandplaypodcast
Episode 106: Email Ninja Emails can be such a point of stress in our lives because they just keep piling up and they're a complete time suck. I cannot tell you how many days I've wanted to check my email real quick. Do I get any other work done? No. Is my inbox actually cleared up? No. I just spent all day in my inbox and I have nothing to show for it, and there are about seven other super legitimate, important things I would rather be doing. While I was running my photography business and running my team, we had to get an email system in place and I turned my inbox into a little game. Over the years I have put a lot of disciplines into place and match that up with this little game that I play and all of that has really helped me to get control over it and not feel as overwhelmed, but instead, feel more like an #EmailNinja. Today, I'm going to teach you how to be an Email Ninja, too! Click the link in our profile to listen! #workandplaypodcast #workandplay by @workandplaypodcast
Episode 105: Baby #4 Q&A I'm trying to learn to just take care of myself, my body, and to prioritize the basics like sleep, food, resting when I need to, and moving my body. - @nancyray Click the link in our profile to listen to this episode! #workandplaypodcast #workandplay by @workandplaypodcast
Episode 105: Baby #4 Q&A This episode is going to be a personal look into my life, my motherhood, and more specifically, this fourth pregnancy that I am currently experiencing. My core purpose with this podcast is to provide you with practical tools for an integrated life. Integrated means showing up and sharing ALL areas of my life. How my faith in Jesus is really the center of everything. My work, my play and all other areas. And hopefully providing some practical tools along the way. This episode is a little more laid back, more like a conversation with me. Let's pretend like we're out at a coffee shop drinking our favorite coffee, and we're talking about motherhood and pregnancy and all the things. I've gathered so many of your questions, and I'm really excited to dive in and answer them. And honestly, I haven't really prepared my answers ahead of time. I'm just gonna speak from my heart. I think it's gonna be fun! Beautiful photos by @oliviasuriano! Click the link in our profile to listen! #workandplaypodcast #workandplay by @workandplaypodcast
Episode 104: Know Yourself, Know Your Money with Rachel Cruze Anyone can have a healthy relationship with money. You can learn to communicate about it, even when it's difficult, and you can learn to have a plan around it, as well. - @rachelcruze Click the link in our profile to listen to this episode! #workandplaypodcast #workandplay by @workandplaypodcast
Episode 104: Know Yourself, Know Your Money with Rachel Cruze I'm so excited to welcome @RachelCruze back to the Work & Play Podcast! She is a personal finance expert with @Ramsey.Solutions and author of Know Yourself, Know Your Money. She's also a mama of three littles, two girls and a boy, so I have a special place in my heart for that. And honestly, she's just such an uplifting voice in my life today. We're talking about the why behind your money—why we think or behave the way that we do when it comes to our spending, saving and relating to money. And most importantly, how we can continue to dream with our money when it feels like life might be a little out of our control.
