All the scratch built projects from last year. I actually managed to make seven trailers, but I ran out of time to paint three of them - hopefully I can get them prepped this winter and painted come spring. The only hang up of building more trailers is just sourcing more wheels and tires. by @workin.dan
Some weathering projects I wrapped up in the past year; took on bigger challenges with the CCM 375 and 657 projects, both of which turned out great. I’m not totally sad that the 375, 65 and 555 are all still in my case. by @workin.dan
I wanted to do a couple of recap posts for my 2025 projects. I managed to complete 39 projects last year. That is by far the most builds that I have ever completed during a single year. Conversely, I think I only tossed one project out - which is also a record. The project in question was a 3D printed Hydroseeder that kept oozing liquid resin months after it had been cured, washed and re-washed. I got so fed up with it that I just pitched it into the trash. The majority of projects completed this year were 3D printed kits from creators within our hobby. No Shapeways, no big companies with AI or dedicated designers but normal people who work all day then come home and dream up some pretty neat stuff. I am incredibly thankful for these creators and the products that they bring to the market. Here are most of the 3D printed projects that I completed this year. Again, big thanks to all who support and supply this hobby! by @workin.dan
This is the last project from my 2026 winter builds; a scratch built log truck using a Diecast Masters cab and chassis. Typically, I’m racing to get everything finished for IMCATS but not this year - feels good to be ahead of the curve for once. You may have noticed that I’ve been pretty quiet about IMCATS; usually I’m hyping up the show and trying to encourage everyone to attend. For some reason, BRI has been pretty vague on this year’s show; they finally released the show date but still no confirmed location. I can’t in good conscience try to convince people to book flights, hotels and time off from work for a show that may or may not happen. Even if the show does happen, I don’t know if I will attend this year. My goal has always been to build and sell my customs at this show as a way to help generate interest in the hobby and attendance for IMCATS. Every year attending the show feels more like a hassle. Frankly, the only thing that even remotely piques my interest with this hobby would be attending and displaying at a European show with some other American builders. What are your thoughts, are you planning to attend IMCATS? by @workin.dan
The Seaway group getting it done in wine country! by @workin.dan
One more small project completed; scratch built logs for an upcoming log truck project. I elected to build these logs with fictional bark patterns from wooden dowels and acrylic modeling paste instead of foraging for actual twigs. One time I tried used the twig method, cut it open and honest to god a ton of bugs came out. Never again. by @workin.dan
Reposting an older project - might need to add another one to the collection! by @workin.dan
Finished up this KCK C500 kit over the holiday weekend. It turned out better than I had expected even though I managed to get a drop of glue on the windshield, mount the toolbox crooked and put the beacons directly behind the exhaust 🤦🏻‍♂️ Big thanks to this can of Duplicolor Gray that’s been going strong and staying full for nearly a decade. by @workin.dan
One more trailer project completed - this is shaping up to be record trailer production year 😆 by @workin.dan
Knocked out these two projects this weekend; a snow pusher and snow bucket from @nikl_scale_models . Both pieces are painted white with Majic brand enamel spray paint. The Majic paint white is much brighter than the Tonkin white, so a coat of acrylic clear knocked the brightness down and matches the oem paint a little better. The black parts were taped off an air brushed with Vallejo acrylic black, the clear coat gave the black a shine. Finally, I used some 1/64” black stripe decals along the edges between the black and white to help give a better edge. by @workin.dan
Stopped by the former Bills stadium today, safe to say the Ralph is no more! It’s extremely impressive how quickly they tore down this place. Definitely one of the biggest demolition projects I’ve ever seen. by @workin.dan
Who else misses the good old days of DHS Open House!? 😩 by @workin.dan
