We have some new friends 👋🧡

As our Working Theater community continues to grow, we want to make sure that everyone knows our mission and the work that we do. From commissioning first-time working playwrights to producing our Stage Left festival, we exist to break down the barriers to access and participation in the arts for every day working people. Because art is not a privilege. It is an every day part of our lives.

Season 42 is looking to be one of the best ones yet, and we hope you will join us at the Housewarming Kick-off Party on Sept 28! Link in our bio to make a reservation today.

We're thrilled to introduce you to our friends QT Library!

The @qt.library is a volunteer-led collective of artists, educators, librarians, and LGBTQIA+ folks of all backgrounds opening a brick-and-mortar queer and trans lending library that will serve as an accessible, intersectional, substance-free community space in Boston.

We hope you will check them out now and find ways to support! by @working.theater

We're never playing around 🤭

We're dead serious when it comes to Brick-by-Brick. Get this, if all our followers donated their subway fare just ONCE a month, we could stage a full main-stage production. Theater by the people and for the people.

Help us build a working theater. Make a small recurring donation today!

A new American play about an old American story.

Fourth Avenue (Brooklyn) is a searing and tender new play that delves fearless into the dark heart of real estate development in it's power to reshape both the city and the souls of it's inhabitants. As the buildings go up, the people change.

A dynamic company, Emily Perkins and Moti Margolin have fashioned an energetic performance piece that tells the story of a park ranger and resident of Fourth Avenue who has lost his childhood home and takes matters into his own hands.

It's come to our attention that some people have not met the newest member of the WT team!

Let's give it up for Delaney Kelly, our new Development Manager. Since joining us this past spring, Delaney has helped Working Theater as we continue to expand our community and bring more working people into the arts in NYC. We're so excited to have her on the team, and next time you see her at the theater, make sure to say hello.

Let's hear it in the comments for @delayed.knee ! by @working.theater

This was his response when we tried to get him to dance again. 🤷‍♀️

Don't fret! He will dance again! We will not stop dancing. We will not stop making theater work for people who work.

We're Working Theater. We make questionable jokes, and world-class art by working-class artists. Come hang out with us. by @working.theater

And that's a wrap on the '26-'27 Mark Plesent Commission Fund.

Another huge round of applause for this year's recipients Ashley V. Graves and C. Lee Dionne. What an extraordinary honor to have worked alongside you this season. We can not wait to see more of your plays on stage.

Thank you to the mentors, directors, actors, stage managers, and audiences who supported the process and final evening. With your hard work, we are creating more access into the art form. We are in your gratitude.

If you missed it, check out a sneak peek into the evening. ANDDDD if you want to donate, consider becoming a Brick-by-Brick supporter today. Every dollar goes towards uplifting working-class artists to tell their stories.

And we think you are too. 🫶

Brick-by-Brick is our recurring micro-donation campaign. What does that mean? It means a small monthly donation (think $5 or less a month) adds up quickly to organizations like us. It helps us continue to offer sliding scale tickets, free arts programming to working people, commissioning stories about working people, and making sure theater works for everyone.

Sounds like something you want to help build? Let's do it together, Brick-by-Brick. 🧱
