WORKING TITLE LAB — PRACTICE #5 October 4 • Tbilisi - APPLY

Working Title Lab is an ongoing artistic and curatorial research into space, communication and collective authorship.
It has been developing through a sequence of collective actions.
#1 — March 20 • Sacile, Italy The first public act. A starting point for the practice and for a continuing dialogue between different places, people and artistic communities.
#2 — May 17 • Lisi Lake, Tbilisi A large collective canvas made outdoors, in direct contact with the landscape. The work, photographs and documentation from that day continue to live and develop as part of the project.
#3 — Working Title Residency • Tbilisi During our first residency, the practice continued with another large canvas and a new shared experiment around water.

#4 — September 26 • Fuori Dal Centro, Italy Tomorrow, the practice travels back to Italy. Working Title Lab will be represented by Atina Rabou, an artist I invited and selected for this action. Her practice and personal experience strongly connect with the festival’s questions around migration, movement and displacement.

5 — October 4 • Tbilisi
This summer I have been working intensively with local natural pigments and the process of making my own paints. What began as an experiment gradually developed into a larger material research — and along the way produced unexpected methods, new artistic mediums and even new tools.
So,
on October 4, I invite you to join me in Tbilisi for a collective practice built around making paint as part of the artistic process itself.

We will work together on one enormous surface using natural pigments, soil and other raw materials. We will grind, mix and transform them into paints while simultaneously working on the canvas.

I will also introduce several new handmade artistic tools that I am currently developing as part of my research.

We will observe what happens when place becomes material, communication becomes method, and authorship becomes collective.

Hello and welcome to everyone who has recently joined this space🟡I’m Ania Soko — an independent curator, artist, spaces creator, women, mom and explorer.

For many years, my work has focused on collective and process-based creativity, young and women’s art practices, marginal forms of knowledge, and the ways people come together through art. Since 2019, I have been the founder of @ladiesdrawingclub , and throughout my curatorial practice I have initiated and produced numerous projects, exhibitions, and events centered around emerging and women artists. Also I travel with 10+ metres of canvas and brushes only in by baggage since 2019 too.

What interests me most is creating conditions for encounters: between people, places, materials, and ideas. I love building spaces where creativity becomes a shared experience and where new directions can emerge through conversation, attention, and experimentation.

I live between France and Georgia, although most of my time is currently spent in Georgia. Here I’m developing collective gatherings, pigment journeys, artistic experiments, and other community-based projects while learning from the landscapes, materials, and stories of this place. I use my knowledges to create space with care and interaction. I get new knowledges everyday and love it.

PERMESSO

Ieri, 27 settembre, a Vito d’Asio, abbiamo parlato di cosa significa permettersi di scegliere, di partire, di tornare, di restare. E soprattutto, di fare.

Con Francesca Centonze @francesca_cent , Atina Rabou @atinarabou e, in rappresentanza di Ania Soko @sokodiary , abbiamo parlato di intenzioni, background di vita, migrazioni, territorio e comunità.

Nel pubblico c’erano nuovi abitanti di Vito d’Asio, arrivati da geografie diverse. C’erano persone che hanno ricostruito la valle dopo il terremoto, persone che dalla valle sono partite per lavorare all’estero e che poi hanno scelto di tornare.

Storie diverse, unite dallo stesso territorio e da una domanda: cosa significa scegliere di fare un’azione per una comunità, per un luogo, per il mondo, per l’arte e per se stessi?

Permettersi di scegliere significa anche assumersi la responsabilità di agire.

PERMESSO è stato questo: mettere in relazione esperienze, geografie e generazioni diverse e capire cosa può accadere quando ci si concede davvero il permesso di fare e di considerarsi una comunità.

Felice ci mostra una frase su quella scultura a pochi metri da noi "UNIZ SIN TORNAZ A VIVI" da soli non si fa niente.

LADIES DRAWING CLÜB presents series of artistic encounters, explorations and dialogues MYTHICAL GARDENS — FIRST GARDEN beginning with a solo presentation by Ekaterina Ilina🕊️ @krjelik

Mythical Gardens explores the meeting point between inner and external worlds — between imagination, memory, mythology and the spaces we actually inhabit. We are interested in what happens when characters born within an artist’s personal universe are placed into a new environment: how they begin to live there, change it, and create new relationships between fiction and reality.

Each presentation becomes its own garden — temporary, growing and never completely finished. A space where an artistic world can take root, expand and encounter another place, another audience and another context.

For our First Garden, Ekaterina Ilina brings her characters and visual language into the space of Working Title Lab in Tbilisi. This project continues the practice of Ladies Drawing Club, bringing individual female artistic voices into physical spaces and creating new encounters around them.

BERTHE MORISOT — the first talk in a new lecture series by Anna Hush @a.hush.a

This Friday, September 25 at 7 PM, we are starting a new series of talks dedicated to remarkable women — a project that feels particularly important to us.

We have only recently discovered Anna Hush as an incredibly talented speaker: deeply engaged, emotional, sharp and genuinely curious. Anna goes far beyond the familiar version of a biography, bringing us closer to the real person behind the name — complex, contradictory, ambitious and alive.

Our first protagonist is Berthe Morisot (1841–1895) — an artist and a key figure of the Parisian avant-garde and Impressionism, working within an art world in which women still had to fight to be taken seriously as professional artists.

Anna will take us beyond the textbook biography: into Morisot’s character, private history, radical choices, artistic environment and, of course, her work.
This is the first chapter of a series about women whose names may not always be the most obvious ones, but whose stories deserve to be looked at closely, seriously and with curiosity.

September 25 • 7 PM Duration: 1.5 hours Price: 40 GEL
Depending on the weather, the lecture will take place in our garden or inside the space.

Un talk bilingue, italiano / inglese, per parlare di spostamenti, appartenenza e possibilità: quella di costruire una direzione personale, anche quando non coincide con quella che ci è stata indicata.

Due pratiche diverse attraversano il tema dell’abitare e del sentirsi parte di un luogo.

Ania Soko è artista, curatrice e fondatrice di Ladies Drawing Club @ladiesdrawingclub, piattaforma internazionale che attraversa migrazione, appartenenza e costruzione di nuove comunità. Con Working Title @workingtitle_lab sviluppa laboratori internazionali e inclusivi, mettendo in relazione artisti e comunità nella creazione di opere collettive.

Francesca Centonze è artista visiva. La sua ricerca esplora le interconnessioni tra identità, memoria dei luoghi e trasformazioni sociali. Attraverso fotografia, installazione e manipolazione d’archivio, indaga il confine tra dimensione pubblica e privata, trasformando il dato geografico in una riflessione poetica sull’appartenenza.

Questo weekend di cultura libera nella valle friulana è reso possibile grazie al contributo di Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia, Ecomuseo Lis Aganis, Comune di Vito d’Asio e Io Sono FVG.
