After an incredible chapter with Clemson Football, I’m excited to share that I’ll be heading to the University of Texas at Austin to begin my next chapter as a Performance Recovery Specialist.
In this role, I’ll have the opportunity to work directly with student-athletes to develop individualized, evidence-based recovery strategies that support their training, performance, and overall readiness. I’ll also be working with recovery technologies including pneumatic compression, red light therapy, dry floatation, hydromassage, and sauna, while using athlete feedback and performance data to continue evaluating and improving our approach to recovery.
I’m incredibly grateful for my time at Clemson and for everyone who has played a part in my growth along the way. A special thank you to Coach Swinney for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible program, and to Dr. Alex Bina for his mentorship, guidance, and the impact he has had on my development both professionally and personally. Clemson will always hold a special place in my heart, and I’ll forever be thankful for the relationships, experiences, and memories made here.
I couldn’t be more excited for this next opportunity and everything ahead in Austin. Hook ’em 🤘 by @workwithrg

Some of our favorite shots from today’s Class🔋

Sometimes the best training is recovery. Restoring movement, taking care of the body, and preparing to perform again.

Your body is a temple. Don’t forget it.

Yesterday wrapped up the Sports Science Network Conference in Houston, TX! Thank you to all the speakers and hosts for an amazing weekend!
My top 3 takeaways:
1. Start with the question, not the technology.
Multiple speakers emphasized that collecting more data doesn’t automatically lead to better decisions. The best practitioners identify the problem first, then determine what measurements actually matter.
2. Individualization is everything.
From force-velocity profiling to sprint mechanics and practice design, one theme was clear: two athletes can achieve the same outcome through completely different pathways. Understanding the athlete in front of you is more important than chasing universal benchmarks.
3. Performance is bigger than training load.
Training stress is only one piece of the puzzle. Travel, sleep, recovery, cognitive demands, scheduling, and environmental stress all influence athlete readiness and long-term performance.
What stood out most was how consistent these themes were across different sports and organizations. Whether the discussion centered on athlete monitoring, speed development, performance analytics, or return-to-play strategies, the message was very similar: the goal isn’t to collect more information, it’s to make better decisions.
The conference was a great reminder that high performance isn’t about having all the answers all of the time. It’s about asking better questions, understanding the athlete in front of you, and focusing on the factors that truly drive performance. I’m excited to continue learning and applying these concepts in my own coaching and performance work! by @workwithrg

For my first real post, I want to talk about a topic that has been important to me: behavior change.
I’m currently attending a sports science conference in Houston, and one of the most impactful discussions centered around how coaches can create lasting change that extends beyond the training session, the practice field, or the facility walls.
As coaches, mentors, and leaders, I believe our job is to meet people where they are and help them build the habits, systems, and mindset needed to succeed on their own. Real change isn’t created when we’re standing next to them telling them exactly what to do. It’s created when they continue making good decisions after we’re gone. That also means allowing people to struggle and make mistakes.
If we carry every set of dumbbells for our clients/athletes, remind them of every task, and solve every problem for them, we aren’t creating independence-we’re reinforcing their dependence. We may be helping them complete today’s big thing, but we’re not helping them become the person capable of sustaining those behaviors long-term.
The best in this business don’t create athletes who need them forever. They create athletes who leave with the tools, habits, and confidence to succeed on their own. That’s where real behavior change happens. by @workwithrg
