Wow what a time to be alive!❤️I honestly do not know how to even begin thanking each and every one of you for all the support throughout this journey. I am filled with gratitude for each of you who have been part of this experience both closely and from afar.🤍Your unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in me have made it possible for incredible stories to unfold throughout this journey. From the early days of preparation, to the multiple projects, and to the final moments...knowing I had such a strong community behind me gave me the confidence to stand tall in my aim to change and green our world one action at a time.💫Thank you for your kindness, advice, and the countless ways you uplifted me. ❤️The Secret Madiba Project ❤️This project is a result of my passion for sustainable fashion + passing on long-term skills in conjunction with my passion for nurturing children from the moment they step into this big world. Crochet is an incredibly useful skill, a sustainable means for clothes/fabric production, and a way to pass down culture and traditions through crochet patterns and styles. This skill used to be common in the past and contributed greatly to slow fashion and bonding through clothes as a loved would usually crochet items for you to use. However, with the onset of fast fashion and the machine production era, this skill increasingly faded out. It is now rare to find a person who owns a blanket or clothing item that was hand made for them by a loved one or a person they know. Clothes get made in a matter of minutes and end up in dumpsites in less than a few weeks.Which emphasises the need and beauty for initiatives such as this project. Every individual who participated learned how to crochet, a skill that will be with them to the very end, and mot only were they learning a skill,but they were creating something that would bfn a symbol of love for a human-bbeing who is new to this world. A blanket might seem like a small thing but not everyone can afford to just get a blanket. Each and every one of these individuals crocheted every single stitch with love. There were more than 40 participants in this project. My darliings, you are phenomenal!💫❤️ I will forever cherish you & be inspired by you. I've never met some of you in real life yet we bonded through this cause. May you continue to open your loving arms to this world.❤️A special thanks go to @kc.diala for telling me I'm not aiming to high and to give this idea a go. Thank you my friend ❤️A special thanks to all the organisations, mothers, and hospitals who opened up their doors to us. 🌕"Summer's Lover"🌕This one goes out to all of you who are lovers at heart🌼💛 And, I don't just mean being a lovergirl/boy. I mean the ones who fall in love with the little things and fall a bit too hard. So hard you almost always end up hurting your own loving heart. 🌻This is for you incurable romantics. Just know summer loves you!🤍My gosh have I spent so much time trying to perfect this piece! I took me two months to be exact. This dress is inspired by Johannesburg's golden sunsets at the end of summer. Even though the city of gold is a concrete jungle, it also boasts some of the most gorgeous fields that turn gold in the last days of summer. This dress is inspired by love. I imagine summer is a lover, a soft lover. Summer's warm,summer's kind, summer reminds you that better days are always around the corner. Yet, summer leaves eventually. But also comes back eventually. This dress was brought to life by my love for summer, my late evening drives around the city, my early morning runs during summer, harvesting fruits in our garden that we have waited all year for,(and also rereading my journal from about a year ago which I titled heartbreak summer- it was actually a fun summer despite the name).
