Omni Mall Downtown Miami in the mid 1990s during a robbery and Police surrounded the area. The Omni International Mall lasted from 1977 to 2000. And The Mall was mainly closed due to both its high crime rate and economic decline towards the late 80's to late 1990s. And this rare video footage proves it.

1988 Omni Mall of Downtown Miami, Biscayne Blvd (More Rare Footage). This piece of home movie footage I found is from a tourist family visiting the now gone Omni International Mall in the late 80's which they seem to be exploring in a couple of clothing stores which also includes JCPENNY from what it looks like only because I also remember going in there with my Mom and Grandmother as a kid. This is the same Mall that had the giant two story carousel 🎠, Arcade Room called The Time Machine, A Discotheque called Club Scaramouche, A Toy Store, two movie theaters, and a food court with a Chick-Fil-A restaurant. Stumbling upon Omni Mall Raw Footage like this is almost impossible and extremely rare to find. Which is why preserving these types of finds is important to me because a lot of the times footage like this are caught by tourists that don't realize what a gold mine of Miami History this means to us locals born and raised here in South Florida from the 90's, 2000's, and 1960's onward. That's why I love being an archivest of the city I grew up in.

Rare Sunset Place Mall Miami photos from the early 2000's. (How it use to look like including photos from inside Gameworks). I truly am going to miss this place. Sunset Place was one of the best childhood Malls that had the best impact on me through my teenage years and as well as for other millennial kids who grew up here in Miami South Florida from all walks of life. Unlike other Malls besides The Omni and Aventura. Sunset Place Mall gained a cult like following over the years because this place feels like it was created by teens for teens. 😃 👍 Because you had The Gameworks arcade which truly had advanced technology and cool ahead of their time arcades, A Night Club called Martini Bar, Barnes N Noble two story book store (pun intended lol. 🤣 ), Nike Town sports & shoe store, Johnny Rockets Diner, Wilderness Grill, IMAX 3D Movie Theater & AMC Theater 🎥, Musical and other talent acts performed in the courtyard area like Star Search came for auditions, and Virgin Records Megastore where I got my Digimon activity coloring book from that my Mom brought Me and My Dad brought most of his Soul Funk CD's. Plus a lot of celebrities came to visit Sunset Place Mall Miami over the years like The Wayans Brothers Shawn & Marlon, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, The cast from Twilight and The Vampire Diaires cast.
