WAO and Opella announced at the 2026 World Allergy Congress in Kyoto our five-year global partnership to help improve allergy care for millions worldwide.*

For many people living with allergies, care starts long before they reach a specialist. GPs, pediatricians, pharmacists and nurses are often on the frontline, helping people recognize, understand and manage their allergies. That’s where we want to make a difference.

By bringing together expertise within the WAO global network of allergy societies with Opella's scientific expertise and leadership in self-care, we aim to strengthen evidence-based education, frontline HCP support and health literacy, helping improve the recognition and management of allergic diseases.

And we’re getting started with two important initiatives:
🏆 The WAO–Opella Award for Innovative Solutions in Everyday Allergy Care, recognizing innovation where everyday allergy care happens.
📖 Our first joint Self-care in Allergy Report, coming soon, focused on stronger awareness, earlier action and better support for people living with allergies.

Better science. Better education. More confident healthcare professionals. And better everyday allergy care for the people they support.

We are thrilled to share this initative with the international allergy and clinical immunology community.

Today, on #WorldAllergyDay, the World Allergy Organization (WAO) calls on the global community to place equitable access to allergy care at the heart of health systems worldwide. Achieving this goal requires collaboration. Governments, healthcare professionals, patient organizations, scientific societies, industry, and international partners all have a role in building stronger allergy services, expanding specialist training, improving access to lifesaving and disease-modifying treatments, and implementing evidence-based care.

WAO reaffirms its commitment to advancing education, research, advocacy, and global partnerships to ensure that no patient is left behind.

Allergy Care is Essential Care. Together, let us make equitable allergy care a reality - for everyone, everywhere. by @worldallergy

🌍 Allergie: una sfida globale che richiede collaborazione
Il Presidente della World Allergy Organization, Prof. Mario Morais de Almeida, ricorda che le malattie allergiche — dall’asma alla rinite, dalla dermatite atopica all’anafilassi — colpiscono fino al 20–30% della popolazione mondiale, in ogni fascia d’età.
