André Ramos of Portugal - a member of the new six-member Athletes’ Committee within World Boccia - was at the recent Pilsen 2026 World Boccia Challenger tournament in the Czech Republic.

Turkey and Kazakhstan among Pilsen’s standout nations

The Pilsen 2026 World Boccia Challenger provided the first opportunity for many of the sport’s rising stars to test themselves in major international competition since the World Boccia Championships in Seoul.

Held from September 7-15, the first Challenger to be staged in the Czech Republic attracted athletes from 22 nations across four continents, with valuable world-ranking points available on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

Turkey emerged as one of the strongest nations in Pilsen, collecting two individual gold medals and a bronze. Havva Alyurt claimed the BC3 women’s title, while Öner Bozbiyik won BC3 men’s gold.

Absolutely thrilled and deeply honoured to recognize as chief guest appreciation certificate of Boccia Sports Federation of India at ICMR HQ New Delhi. 🔴⚪🔵♿🙏🏻

This is an important step towards making Boccia equipment more accessible to athletes in India. The ramp was formally handed over to Indian Army Boccia players in the presence of the Chairman and President of Boccia India, along with the Secretary-DHR & DG, ICMR Dr Rajiv Bahl, Additional DG Dr Sanghmitra Pati and Senior Scientist Dr. Ravinder Singh.

🇮🇳 A Proud Development for Indian Boccia! 🇮🇳

With the support of ICMR and IIT Madras, the Boccia Sports Federation of India (BSFI) has developed an indigenous Boccia Ramp for BC3 athletes.

This is an important step towards making Boccia equipment more accessible to athletes in India. The ramp was formally handed over to Indian Army Boccia players in the presence of the Chairman and President of Boccia India, along with the Secretary-DHR & DG, ICMR Dr Rajiv Bahl, Additional DG Dr Sanghmitra Pati and Senior Scientist Dr. Ravinder Singh.

The ramp is currently designed for beginners and developmental-level players and is not intended for international-level competition. It can, however, provide an affordable and useful training option for new BC3 athletes and help expand the grassroots development of Boccia across India.

🇬🇧 The final match day of the World Boccia Challenger in Plzeň was full of emotions.

Whether it was the BC1/BC2 teams or the BC3 pairs, there was always something to watch. The atmosphere was incredible, the matches were intense, and every moment was worth experiencing.

But some moments simply cannot be described with words. Medals speak for themselves.

🇨🇿 Závěrečný zápasový den World Boccia Challengeru v Plzni byl plný emocí.

Ať už se jednalo o týmy BC1/BC2, nebo páry BC3, opravdu bylo na co koukat. Atmosféra byla neskutečná, zápasy plné napětí a každý moment stál za to.

Některé okamžiky ale jednoduše nejdou popsat slovy. Medaile mluví samy za sebe.
