If there’s one thing that has dominated the headlines this year, it’s wildfires. This summer, fires have been raging across Europe, Canada and the US, and January saw intense wildfires in Australia, Chile and Argentina.

Have there been more wildfires this year than in previous years?
Is arson the leading cause of wildfires?
Are rewilding efforts making wildfires worse?

We see what’s happening around the world.
As do you.

It can feel hopeless but we’re here to show you it isn’t.

The World Climate Relay is the world’s first global climate fundraiser.

We are raising funds for the highest impact climate non-profits, who are changing legislation and decarbonising our industries.

These organisations are up to 50 times more effective than the best tree planting schemes at reducing carbon emissions.

Let’s not reinvent the wheel, let’s support the organisations already doing the work, chosen by independent researchers at @givinggreen.earth

Most carbon emissions are not your fault, even as the consumer.
Because these are the only systems we have.

Our energy
Our infrastructure
Our lives

The difference we can make could be so much more ambitious than reducing our own emissions.

By coming together we can support the non-profit organizations who are changing these systems.

In fact, just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions.

So instead of putting all the pressure on individuals…

Let’s change the game.

86% of people worldwide care about the climate.

We recycle, eat less meat, fly less, switch to renewable energy and try to make better choices where we can. Those things matter, and we should absolutely keep doing them.

And yet the planet is still warming, despite our individual efforts.

Because the biggest barriers are systemic.

We need to decarbonise heavy industry, speed up the transition to clean energy, and push for better climate policy. Those are the changes that really move the needle.

Yet only around 2% of global philanthropic giving goes to climate causes. We want to change that.

That’s why we created the World Climate Relay.

We’ve partnered with @givinggreen.earth, who spend all year researching the world’s most effective climate non profits. They measure impact by one simple question: how much CO₂ can an organisation prevent from entering the atmosphere for every dollar donated?

So when you join the World Climate Relay, you can be confident that the money you raise is funding some of the highest-impact climate solutions in the world.

The solutions exist.

Let’s make it happen, together.

In our first year we had 1,731 people from 62 countries take part in the World Climate Relay.

Together we have completed a lap around the world and raised over $140,000 for the highest-impact climate charities who are decarbonizing industries and changing legislation.

That’s one way to start things off… next year our goal is to raise over $1MILLION!

But we need your help. Join us - tap the link in our bio 🔗

Our incredible ambassador @andrew_alexander_king has gone above and beyond for the @worldclimaterelay, taking on five challenges a day to inspire others to get involved. From cycling and running to climbing, paddling and diving - he's an absolute machine! Huge thanks to Andrew for sharing his journey with us and helping spread the word. 💚🌍

You can take part too, you dont have to be as extreme as Andrew!

Temperatures soared across Europe last week.

Every day seemed to bring a new heat record. Here in France, temperatures reached 44°C in Pissos. The Netherlands issued its first-ever Code Red warning for extreme heat, Germany recorded its hottest day of the year, and the UK, Spain and Switzerland all experienced their hottest June temperatures on record.

Most people are worried and want to act, but don’t necessarily realise that there are genuinely impactful actions we can take.

We hear a lot of advice about what we should be doing to tackle the climate crisis. But the fact is, not every action has the same impact. If we want to move fast, we need to focus on the areas where we can reduce carbon emissions the most and create the biggest positive change.

Our co-founder, Jennifer Stretton, has written a blog to cut through the noise and highlight the actions that will make the biggest impact.

Here are some of the most creative challenges by some of you this year…

@petespunishments leg-pressed the weight of a jumbo jet and raised £2,000 for the top climate charities doing so.
That’s one way to stamp out aviation emissions!

@kristy_the_rolfer climbed 10 vertical kilometers and paraglided down each time.

Her team International Verti+Km’s has raised $9,144 and still going!

@danvvood measured the length of his arms and did 170 reps each day to complete 1 kilometer of pull ups!

Definitely one of the most creative challenges we’ve seen…

Ruben is part of Team Tien Procent, and cycled 300km in 48 hours.

A challenge like this requires diligent planning and preparation.

It’s not too late to join!
Choose a challenge, cover as much distance as you can, raise money from friends and family for the top climate non-profits who are changing the systems, decarbonizing industries and pushing for legislation.

These charities are around 50 times more effective at reducing global carbon emissions than even the best tree planting schemes.

If you want to make a difference, join the movement.
