Happy Earth Day!

Here’s a quaint collection of vegetables grown at my lovely community garden.

1) Lettuces, flowers, persimmons and goat cheese Thanksgiving salad
2) Pruning avocado trees. The leaves are edible and often dried for uses in braises, beans and moles. They have a slight anise flavor, imo.
3) Garden greens frittata with snap peas and feta
4) Passionfruit blossom
5) Green papaya
6) Radishes
7) Purple cauliflower
8) Chrysanthemums

Eat your veggies. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

Happy 90th birthday to my mom!

Julia Ann Dyer born on the ides in 1936.

I grew up with the best mom and she’s still that to this day.

Happy Monday- here’s some veggie inspiration to get your week started!

🥦 VEG PREP PROS:

- Handy snacks all day long
- Cost effective
- Less packaging/plastic to the landfill
- Freshly cut = more delicious
- Mise en place done if you decide to cook prepped veg

🥒 VEG PREP CONS:

- More work/time than buying pre-cut veg

RFK Jr. can change around the pyramid however he wants but across the globe, it is well known that those that eat more whole grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables with meat following lower in the pyramid generally live healthier lives with fewer complications in older age due to diabetes, heart disease and all the other ailments waiting for us as we age.

Does cutting your own veg require effort? Yes. For me it’s worth it because it means I’ll snack on them as opposed to potato chips (well, I’ll still do that, but far less!). And the time spent means I’m not staring at my phone into the abyss of shit news. 🥕🔪🥬 by @worldofweezy

Thank you all for the plethora of birthday greetings and overall holiday cheer! The amount of friends and family that I heard from near and far filled this 52-year-old heart.

I had a pretty epic birthday week that included dinner and jazz with my boo, whiskey/beers and shuffleboard with buddies, my annual Feast of the Seven Bitches, a home-cooked Viet dinner with new friends, a garden birthday party, making Reba’s banana pudding for Snoop on the Voice, sushi and udon, oysters and beer, snuggles with Smokey and Curdis, yoga, and a hangover plate of the cheesiest Mexican food. I guess you could say I’m a maximalist.

Happy Holidays/Hanukkah/Christmas to all. I love you. 🎄🕎🎉 by @worldofweezy

Are you familiar with the delicious, aromatic herb called epazote? Native to Mexico and Central America, commonly used in beans, and possessing a truly original aroma and flavor, this here is one of my absolute favorite herbs! 🌿 by @worldofweezy
