🕊️ IN MEMORY OF DIEGO LEONARDO VILLALBA

It is with deep sadness that ParaVolley Pan America mourns the passing of Argentine Sitting Volleyball athlete Diego Leonardo Villalba.

Diego was part of the generation of athletes that helped drive the international growth of Argentina's Sitting Volleyball program. He contributed to the team's preparation for the first ParaVolley America Cup and was part of a squad that earned the bronze medal at the 2025 SESC Para Cup and a fourth-place finish at the Zonal Championships in Denver, USA.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, the Argentine ParaVolley community and everyone whose lives he touched.

May he rest in peace.

Con profundo pesar, desde ParaVolley Pan America despedimos a Diego Leonardo Villalba, integrante de la selección argentina masculina de voleibol sentado.

Diego formó parte de una generación de jugadores que impulsó el crecimiento internacional del paravoleibol argentino. Integró el proceso de preparación hacia la primera Copa América de ParaVolley y fue parte de un plantel que alcanzó la medalla de bronce en la Paracopa SESC 2025 y el cuarto puesto en el Zonal Americano disputado en Denver, Estados Unidos.

Acompañamos en este difícil momento a su familia, seres queridos, compañeros de equipo y a toda la comunidad del paravoleibol argentino.

Que descanse en paz.

China 🇨🇳

For the first time, I am visiting this country, and for the first time, I am competing in such an event as the Sitting Volleyball World Championship.

I would like to dedicate this moment to my father, who sadly passed away in January this year. He always supported me throughout my sitting volleyball journey. Losing him was one of the hardest moments of my life, and I pray that he rests in peace.

After a break of almost five years, I received an invitation in March this year to represent the German National Team. It was a great honor and a source of immense pride for me. Together, we achieved the 6th place at the World Championship.

Finally, I would like to sincerely thank my coach @herze83 and the German Volleyball Federation for their trust and support. I truly believe the best is yet to come, and we will continue working hard to achieve even greater success. by @worldparavolley

World ParaVolley was honoured to welcome FIVB President Fabio Azevedo and AVC President Ramon Suzara to the 2026 WPV Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Hangzhou.

Joined by WPV President Jürgen Schrapp, WPV Vice-President Elvira Stinissen and PVAO President Dr. Lu Caillang, global leadership engaged in high-level discussions surrounding a landmark Memorandum of Understanding between ParaVolley Asia Oceania and the AVC.

Together, the organizations are uniting the global volleyball movement to build a truly inclusive sport. by @worldparavolley
