Mealtime becomes our little routine 🍽️
German Shepherds are working dogs at heart 💜 so they actually crave having a job to do.
Something like training during meals taps into that instinct. It gives them purpose, helps burn mental energy, and makes the bond stronger because you’re guiding them through it.
It’s structure and connection, not just obedience✨

Little by little, snack by snack, it’s discipline with a wagging tail.🐶🐾

In honor of International Dog Day, here are a few glimpses of our last few weeks with Mika ✨🐾

Exactly one month ago, we adopted her from a shelter. She was the last of four pups to find her home, and we were warned that she wasn’t going to be an easy dog — she would need lots of patience, consistency, and training. But we were up for the challenge. 🤍

To say this past month has been hard is an understatement. The first three weeks meant waking up 3+ times a night when she would start barking, while also working on leash walking, obedience, and managing her reactivity — all while both of us work full-time. Some days, it honestly felt impossible.

But little by little, we’re building an incredible bond. She’s becoming more comfortable, letting her true personality shine, and showing us what a sweet, goofy girl she really is. 🥹💜 She’s full of love and has completely stolen our hearts.

We still have a long way to go with her training, but seeing her happy face every day makes every challenging moment worth it.

🐾 Day 1 of learning how to roll over! 🤎

Mom says I’m a very smart girl and that I’ll get it eventually, so today we’re taking it one little step at a time. 🥹✨

We started with learning how to lay on my side, because Mom says big tricks are easier when we break them into tiny steps. I’m still figuring it out, but I’m trying my best! 🐶💕

One day I’ll be rolling over like a pro… but for now, I’m just enjoying the learning, the treats, and all the praise. 🦴🤎
