Last night Worship Queer Collective founder @dyan_tai was presented with a community recognition statement made in NSW Parliament by @jennyleong.newtown with a special acknowledgment to @mami_maitai who stepped up to curate and produce the 2025 Lunar New Year Festival at @redrattlersydney . This award is especially dedicated to Mai who is a core member of Worship.

EAST PALACE, WEST PALACE 东宫西宫

We’re screening a little piece of queer Chinese cinema history 🖤🎬

Made in 1996, Zhang Yuan’s East Palace, West Palace follows a young gay man who is caught cruising in a Beijing park and detained by a police officer. What unfolds over the night is intimate, uncomfortable, funny, sad and full of tension — a story about desire, shame, power, and what it means to be seen.

Almost 30 years later, there’s still something incredibly raw about watching it.

Come watch it with us on the big screen at Red Rattler surrounded by friends and community.

Worship Queer Collective started in Dec 2021 and since then have continued to produce events that champions Queer Asian Excellence in Eora such as Club Worship, Worship Mentorship Program, Gaysian Stories and Don’t Cha Wish You Yum Cha? (photos from 2022 season).
