Friends! I’m really excited (and yes, a little bit nervous!) to share that I’ll be standing as the Green candidate for Exwick, Exeter in the May 2026 city council elections 💚

I’m running because I believe deeply in what the Exeter Green Party is working towards: a greener, fairer, more connected city. And also because I recognise that the opportunities and privileges I’ve had mean I can, and should, step forward and play a more active role in supporting my local community here in Exwick.

I love this city. From my daily walks along the quayside on the way to work, to my time at Exeter Uni, to the years I spent running a shop on Fore Street, it’s a place full of people I admire, care about, and feel genuinely lucky to know. There’s so much potential here: in green energy, community action, housing, health and wellbeing, and the arts. And while we’re not there yet, I can feel the energy and appetite in Exeter to make it happen.

As we head towards May, I hope more of us feel encouraged to get involved, whether that’s voting, having conversations, or just taking a bit more interest in what’s happening locally.

I’ll be honest, I am also concerned about the rise of more divisive, far right politics nationally. It doesn’t reflect the communities I know. I see kindness, good intentions, and a genuine willingness to support one another, and I think that’s something worth standing up for and protecting.

If you’d like to get involved:
• Vote Green in May
• Join the Green Party
• Volunteer locally (feel free to DM me, I’d love to chat!)

And, more broadly, just keep showing up in the world with care and intention. It really does make a difference. 💚 #bethechange #greenparty #exeter #localelections #devon

700 votes.
6 new Green councillors.
32% of the city-wide vote.
No overall majority in Exeter.

We didn’t win Exwick this time…but after only two months of campaigning, around seven hours a week, and improving from fewer than 200 Green votes previously to 700 now, I feel far more hopeful than defeated.

Mostly, I feel grateful.

Grateful to everyone who trusted me, volunteered for me, encouraged me, and reminded me how kind, thoughtful and community-minded Exeter really is.

This campaign has genuinely changed me. It reminded me that politics is not reserved for people with endless money, endless free time, or perfect lives. Ordinary people really can shape the future of their city when they decide to try.

And we are only just getting started 💚 taken in Exwick by @wowsancho

Exwick friends (and Exeter friends more broadly!) 💚

This one really matters.

Right now, Exwick is represented by a Reform councillor. In May, this seat is likely to be a straight choice between Green and Reform, and that means what we do over the next few weeks genuinely counts.

If you’ve ever thought about getting a bit more involved locally, this is the moment.

Campaigns like this are won by people. By conversations on doorsteps, leaflets through doors, small acts of support that build into something much bigger. And there’s a place for everyone, whether you’ve done this before or not.

If you care about a greener, fairer Exeter, about community, inclusion, and the kind of city we want to live in, now is the time to step in rather than look back later and wish we had.

If you’d like to help, even in a small way, send me a DM. I’d love to have you involved 💚

@diana_exeter has been building outward for as long as I have known her. Where many of us have been looking inward, she has been creating space, strengthening community, and holding a steady light.

I have so much love for you Diana! I’m grateful for your gift to this city. And to you @sandhyadave23 for hosting Dance Against Racism at @exeterphoenix to create a much needed space for expression and connection in this city and beyond! taken in Exeter Phoenix by @wowsancho

My name is Ali Taylor and I am a spoon carver from Devon. My spoons
are hand-carved with nothing but an axe and a couple of knives from
local, sustainably sourced green wood. Green wood is wood that has not
been seasoned and still has a high moisture content.

My love for spoon carving and green woodworking as a hobby has grown
over the years, and the process of creating something beautiful and
functional out of a piece of wood never gets boring for me. It is the
love of this creative process that keeps me carving. To sit in a
woodland, under the tree canopy, listening to the bird song and slowly
carving away with a couple of small hand tools is one of my favourite
ways to switch off and relax. The spoon, as a finished product, is
almost secondary.

When carving a spoon I try to strike a balance between aesthetics and
function. The spoon needs to look good, be that the shape, wood grain
or additional decoration, but also be comfortable to hold and use with
a durable finish. However I also find wooden spoons extremely tactile
and far nicer to hold than metal or plastic alternatives. Once you've
tried a wooden spoon for your porridge, you'll never look back!

You can find a selection of my eating spoons, coffee or flour scoops,
and my cooking spoons at www.alitaylorspoons.co.uk or down at the
Boatyard studio by Exeter Quay. by @wowsancho

Who are the Quay Collective??

Introducing Hazel - @hazelandmouse

Hi,
I’m Hazel. After studying in London, I found my way back to Devon—I missed the green rolling hills and the closeness to nature. I love walking in Devon with my dog friend, Miss Daphne Mouse (she’s the mouse in Hazelandmouse 😊).
I have always loved making. Most of my drawings (perhaps not the dinosaur!) are inspired by creatures I know or I’ve spotted while rambling with Daphne. I love capturing personalities, expressions and creating little worlds of imagination, that are cosy, funny, or beautiful, and I hope that joy comes through to you too.
I’ve also been having lots of fun with porcelain—making dishes pressed with leaves I gather on my walks. You’ll spot some porcelain Christmas decorations as well, which make such sweet gifts.

Thanks for being here and following along on this creative journey. Do come visit the pop-up shop! 🌿✨ by @wowsancho

I’m Elizabeth, an Exeter based artist making work in response to landscape and place.
At the Boatyard studio I’m showing paintings, prints, pottery and papier-mache celebrating the woods and it’s inhabitants. I’ll be here on Saturday so do pop in and say hi!

My paintings are made after long periods of immersion in the landscape. Otherworldly yet rooted in real place, they have a sense of being drawn in, of passing through.

I love slowing down with the printing process, especially etchings and intaglio prints. With my dry-points I enjoy making each print unique through careful attention to inking.

I teach pottery in Exeter, and enjoy the repetitive processes in working with clay alongside the freedom I find in surface decoration. I love working with slips & Earthenware, and also with more durable stoneware. I am very don’t of tea, don’t count the mugs…

Creatures often crop up who might inhabit my paintings. Papier-mâché-mache, ceramic, painted… I’ve been making them since I was very small and find it important to maintain that sense of delight in creativity that I had as a child.

I’ve found the boatyard such an inspiring place to be. It’s really been lovely being part of this very special little show. by @wowsancho
