The 37 Dodge is sealed up almost back together after the majority of the lower half of the car was replaced. Flick through to see how rusty this was.
The @machineryhouseau sand blasting cabinet got a workout, cleaning up the parts in preparation for paint.

Matt sealed up the underside in @kbscoatingsaustralia rust seal and textured TXT liner from @carbuilders, he also painted the underside of the boot and firewall in body colour.

It’s almost ready to go back to its owner where it will see final paint and assembly. It was great to be a part of bringing this 37 Dodge back to life.

80 Series Landcruiser fan shroud we made to suit a 6bt engine conversion. The lower section of the shroud is removable to allow ease of installation to the vehicle.

Craig's D22 Nav came in for some rework and to continue the build after previously being started elsewhere. It came to us unfinished and needing a few changes to improve the geometry, so the chassis has since been cut apart, rewelded and straightened.

The rear tube section above the fuel cell will also double as the fuel cell straps, so those sections will be made removable.

Good tools speed up time which is something I have less of lately with bubs.
We went shopping down at @machineryhouseau in Melbourne. It’s pretty cool to look around to check out the extensive range of equipment.

We upgraded the beadroller, it’s one of the most versatile tools that I use the most. I often do swages in large panels and artwork where I constantly need to reverse the dies and flip the panel due to the limited throat length. I’ve upgraded from 610mm to 1070mm with the quick release so I’m less likely to miscount turns and will speed up time.

The sandblasting cabinet is something I wish I had at the beginning of the build to remove rust and paint from the panels. It will improve efficiency on restorations that come into the @woz_fab workshop.

The jig table is something I’ve been really wanting to acquire before building the rear suspension and chassis components. I’m looking forward to learning how to use it with the fixtures to make parts such as link bars.

The rotisserie is another thing I’ve had my eye on and will be put to use as soon when the body comes off the chassis. I’ve got a bit of work to do on the underside of the cab soon.

The lathe is a tool that I’ve always wanted to learn. There’s quite a few fiddley jobs coming up which it will be perfect for. I’ve often had to outsource machining jobs so it will be nice to not have to rely on someone else.

The green hilux was my first car and previous build. It did a run of shows when it was complete and is now used mostly as a tow vehicle/ family car. The 5.7L LS1 and T56 do a good job at pulling things along.

Dialling in the door skin profile.
I used my steel template to transfer the curve onto a cardboard sheet. This allowed me to check the profile and mark references for the areas that needed rolling more.

Once the curve was right, I folded the body line in with the @machineryhouseau panbrake. It flattened the curve a little so I made a profile die to run the panel through the power hammer afterwards. This will ensure that the body line on each panel matches and will be used again when I make the tub skins. My partner @wozfab helped me fold the skin - I need to be careful with lifting after having Bub, he also helped run the large panels through the hammer. Check out that account if you want to see our work.

I used a bit of angle to act as a backstop for the power hammer die. It was cleco’d to the panel leaving a 3mm hole in the centre which I welded up with the @cigweldesab revenge Tig. Happy to be in partnership with these guys.

Next step is to trim the edges tip all of the edge flanges so that the skin can wrap around the door frame.

Roller arrived just in time from @machineryhouseau to start working out how to make this door profile.
The 3 in one folder/guillo/roller that I normally use wasn’t quite long enough to fit the door skins so this is a nice upgrade.
I’ll be making a profile die to run the body line through the power hammer after rolling to ensure that it matches the body.

Made up some mounting structures for the side steps on the 37 dodge. These were loosely replicated from what was left of the rusty original parts and then plug welded into place.

Team effort to get these running boards fabricated for the 37 dodge.
The pattern was pulled from what was left of the originals, new steel cut and we ran it through the little @machineryhouseau English wheel to pre-stretch where the swages will be. The narrow upper die makes it nice and easy to follow the pen line.

Next was to run it through the beadroller using the backstop along the straight edge to easily ensure the swage lines are nice and straight.

The straight edge was then folded, taper added and welded followed by tipping the end flanges in the beadroller and shrinking/stretching them until they were 90°. Corners were then welded and tidied up before fitting them to the vehicle.

At the moment they’re just clamped into position. The next step is to drill the mounting holes and add the underside reinforcements and brackets.

Fabricated some new side steps for the 37 dodge. Used what was left of the originals to make the paper pattern which was used to transfer the information to a flat piece of sheet metal.
The steel was pre stretched on the swage lines using the little @machineryhouseau English wheel before beadrolling the panel.
The edges were then folded and tipped over using the beadroller and the corners were welded up.
