To the people of Nepal and my friends at Women for Peace and Democracy, I’m so sorry you are dealing with all of this devastation. @wpdnepal @worldaccord

Many of us here in Canada are watching the devastation through social media, but I know in my heart that what we’re seeing can’t even begin to describe what you’re actually dealing with.

The catastrophic flash flooding has destroyed homes, roads, bridges and entire communities. More than 1,100 people have lost their lives and thousands remain missing. Families have been displaced, communities have been cut off, and the search and rescue effort continues.

Nepal is probably one of the most beautiful countries in the world, with some of the kindest, most compassionate and genuine people I have ever had the privilege of meeting. I’m thinking about all of you and sending so much love to my friends and to everyone in Nepal.

For those of us here in Canada who want to help, our government has committed $5 million in humanitarian assistance for emergency food, shelter, clean water, sanitation and health services. The Canadian Red Cross is also accepting donations through its Nepal Flash Floods Appeal to help with immediate relief and recovery. @redcrosscanada taken in Nepal by @wpdnepal

As we approach #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the women transforming hardship into hope and building the foundations of lasting peace.

From Brazil to DRC, Nigeria, Nepal, Canada, Uganda, and Türkiye — the #HeroesofTomorrow have arrived in Rome, Italy.

We had the great pleasure to host #SDGAwards finalists for the Finalist Induction Programme, featuring a special skill-building session led by Manuela Kasper-Claridge, Editor-in-Chief of Deutsche Welle.

This is how vision turns into action.
