My first AOS award!
Paph. White Queen is a classic heritage white complex hybrid. This particular clone, ’Los Angeles‘, originally received an HCC/AOS with 77 points back in 1991.
Since acquiring it last year, this is its second bloom under my care—and the improvement in form is night and day. Exceptionally round, balanced, and full. At this month’s AOS judging, it officially upgraded to an AM/AOS with an 85-point score!
Award Measurements: NS: 10.2 cm, DS: 7.8 cm, PW: 5.4 cm
Beyond the show bench, White Queen has proven to be a cornerstone parent in white and pink complex breeding, with 31 registered F1 progeny to date. I’m sending this bloom’s pollen for a friend for some exciting pink complex crosses—fingers crossed for seed!

Paph. Lola Bird 'Perfect Circle'
so round it almost looks compass-drawn!
This is a seedling from Mukoyama Orchids, cross number L21379 (Paph. emersonii ‘210504-1’ × Paph. micranthum ‘190422’).
Overall quality across this batch has been solid. The form on this bloom are exceptional, even the color looks more faded than I like. There are two more seedlings left to bloom—let’s see if one can deliver both form and color.

Phal. Mituo Purple Dragon ’Blue Penguin‘ (MCL45)
This is one of my first batch if novelty phals. It’s been a shy bloomer over the last couple years only giving me 2 flowers at a time. Now it’s finally giving me a show with 9 flowers blooming at the same time.

Phrag. Ecuagenera Heart ‘Creamy Apricot‘

A newer cross made by Ecuagenera, seems like they didn’t offer many for sale, I rarely seen people post about it.
Though the form of this bloom isn’t outstanding, I love this light apricot color.

Phrag. Kelly Forks ‘Orange Splash’
One of my most unique Phragmipedium in my whole collection! Orange splashed spots on a yellow base. The form is also perfect, round, and stays flat as ironed all the time. This plant is also grows very vigorously, two new fans mature within 6 months after the first bloom. The bloom quality slightly improved from last cycle, will send it to judge this weekend.

C. maxima var. carnea ‘Pink Diamond’

A still very rare, light-pink, cherry-blossom-like color form of C. maxima, originating as a rare result from selfing var. rubra.

Interestingly, this is actually my first Cattleya species—I guess I kind of started with a high bar. I acquired this division from Peter T. Lin at Diamond Orchids about a year and a half ago. It arrived with two sheaths, but they hung on for almost half a year before eventually blasting.

I later divided the plant into two halves, and both have been growing quite slowly. Now, about a year later, the larger division is finally blooming!

Only one flower this time, but the form looks quite nice for a maxima, with fairly wide petals and a flower that opened nicely and flat. The new growths are looking stronger now, so hopefully I’ll get a higher flower count next time.

Phrag. Acker’s Tango
Deflasked these last year, and now three siblings from the same flask are blooming at the same time.
The parentage is Phrag. Jordan’s Peach Tango
‘Acker’s Sunray’ AM/AOS × Phrag. besseae f. flavum
‘Rob’. The colors really lived up to expectations with that warm red-to-orange gradient. Flower form varies slightly between seedlings, but all three look nice. A few more are opening up soon, so stay tuned for more!

Hab. carnea f. nivosa ’Grand Swan‘
Floating like a billowing white ballgown, pure elegance. And beyond the flowers, the foliage is just as gorgeous, reminds me the back of whale sharks!
This is a seedling from Windswept in Time Orchids, and this particular plant turned out exceptional: remarkably large, round, and full. Definitely planning to make a whole series of crosses!
