Much of our garden has suffered in this summer’s heat but I am pretty pleased with how this bed has provided continuous flowers for the last few months.

If you took a year off work what would you do with that time?

I am not sure I will ever slow down but priority will be time for family and leisure. Also, I can’t wait to get stuck into more interior and garden projects plus do some art, enjoy food, exercise and travel. So much to squeeze, I fear 1 year will not be enough!!

There are many reasons we wanted to avoid installing air-con: environmental, cost to install, cost to run and we actually don’t like the feeling of the air it creates.

Most of these cooling design elements were intentional and our attempt to future proof our home as the UK heats up. They have largely worked but we plan to add more shade creating plants to the patio.

I won’t lie though - the day it hit 38C, I nearly caved and called someone for a quote then changed my mind again.

I do worry about what we have done to our planet and so will continue to hold out from installing air-con as long as I can!

It was a pleasure to host @vix_onthemove this week. We met on the ‘gram. Her account inspired our pergola journey and our IRL friendship followed. They say don’t meet strangers off the internet but sometimes…maybe you should. 😂

Placed in the shady part of our south facing garden, this pergola has become a sanctuary from the heat in the summer. And, with power sockets, heating and lighting, it also has served as brunch spot, outdoor office and late night teenage hangouts. We are so grateful for this space.

Thank you for starting us on this journey, Victoria. ❤️X

Thank you to Jo and her team @therubysupperclub for inviting us to the preview of their 1st August Summer Party.

Exquisite food, cocktails and fabulous DJ tunes all in such a gorgeous garden setting. This family run business nestled in the Surrey Hills is an absolute treat!

Two seascapes is a pair.
One more and I will have begun a collection.

We had the pleasure of meeting Andrea Stokes yesterday and were excited to bring home one of her pieces.
