Dear Aliyah
I’m sorry; This has taken me so long to write. I didn’t possess the understanding to comprehend how we could lose you, and I’m just catching up. There simply are no words that could express the beautiful experience of knowing you.

Nothing has ever crushed or challenged me in a way comparable to saying goodbye to someone I’d never contemplated being without. You were one of only a small handful of people I expected to have for my whole life. Someone who I expected to share every experience and venture with. You were someone worth understanding, and someone who I trusted understood me. I cherish that connection more than I could have imagined.

So much of our past exists in the places that hurt to think about. In places where I felt safe, and can’t stand to miss. Time has granted me the gift of somber recollection. I love when it rains, because it feels like the places I cherish most. The places that were sunny when I didn’t need them to be.

You got me heavily into music, and into the world of Metal. I survived your devastating absence through this connection you left me. I memorized every song you had sent, and I cried. I cried so many times while appreciating the smallest details in each of those songs.

I understand now why a gravestone has the family name on it. It is because a little piece of each of us dies with our beloved.

I love you Aliyah. I miss you with such a pained heart. I hope that you are somewhere so beautiful, and peaceful, and that your heart is full.

p.s. I figured most people wouldn’t want to read through random songs, but I still wanted them to exist here. Some of them are sad, but I find a lot of beauty in the sad things these days.

First is Stock exhaust and then with the new Axle back. Gonna have to do the cat back and down pipes at some point but it doesn’t sound like a Prius anymore :) by @wrc_dude
