Happy Release Day @wren.arkose !!!

We've been holding onto some exciting new music from our 2025 Singing Our Futures mentees, and there’s no better time to share it than during this year’s NAIDOC 50 Years of Deadly.

Throughout the next six weeks, Singing Our Futures, in partnership with @badapplesau, will be releasing four new tracks from four deadly artists, celebrating the creativity, talent and stories of emerging First Nations voices.

Kicking things off is Naarm based artist, Wren Arkose - They are a talented singer-songwriter known for their heartfelt ‘sad girl’ songs, blending folk with undercurrents of dream-pop and alt-rock. Their previous releases have been heard on iconic stations including Triple J, ABC Melbourne, 3KND and Triple R.

On July 8, Wren Arkose returns with their highly anticipated new single, 'I Choose My Name'.

This new track tells the story of choosing to build a new life by stepping outside of cycles of addiction and rumination.

It serves as a refusal of accepting the templates we are given to model our lives off of. The song unpacks the non-linear process of healing, a major cornerstone of Wren's music, and shines a light towards building the life they want to live outside of familiar patterns.

'I choose my name' was Produced and co-written with @baileyjuddmusic who also produced Wren Arkose's previous release 'Bones'.

Stay tuned as we celebrate a new generation of First Nations storytellers in the coming weeks 🖤💛❤️

We’re proud to spotlight our next standout act at SAHRA Vol. 2: singer-songwriter Wren Arkose 🌓

Wren Arkose is based in Melbourne, and grew up on Yagara Country. Since relocating to Wurundjeri country in 2016, Wren has become known for their ‘sad girl’ songs. Their music is a blend of folk, with undercurrents of dream-pop and alt-rock. Wren’s career began in 2019, after attending an open mic night at the Retreat Hotel in Brunswick and was invited to a jam session at Bakehouse Studio. Wren has played on stages at Brunswick Music Festival, Live at the Bowl @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Yirramboi Festival, Big Sound, St Kilda Festival and Port Fairy Folk Festival. In 2026 they released their first single ‘Bones’ and played their first interstate show at Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane. Wren’s past projects have been played on iconic stations such as Triple J, ABC Melbourne, 3KND and Triple R.

Catch Wren live at Sahra: Volume Two (27 March, Jamsheed). Tickets in bio! by @wren.arkose

SAHRA: Volume Two is going ahead on 27 March at Jamsheed, and today we’re sharing our lineup - artists we deeply love and believe in, bringing music and storytelling that moves between worlds.

The fear and grief we’re carrying right now only highlights the need to keep building spaces where our community can breathe, gather, and be heard.

Lineup:
KEE’AHN • MEENA SHAMALY • PIA NESVARA
CHRIS ELIAS • NINA ROSE • WREN ARKOSE
LOZ IRWIN-RAY • SANAA • DANI MOHAM
DJ MATAB • NAHED ELRAYES

We will be directing proceeds from Sahra toward communities affected on the ground, and will share the details as soon as we can.

If you’ve been feeling shaken, angry, numb, or exhausted - you’re not alone. Come as you are. 🌓 by @wren.arkose
