@wrenchwithwill bends like a soft warm pretzel to find a good spot for a little essential roll-cage welding, the EVENING before race day!! Well..”WHY wasn’t the cage fully welded already?”, you may ask…that’s because the AWDROLA was built as a show car for SEMA, and well…a “technical race standard welding” wasn’t top priority and honestly went on the back burner until it was kinda forgotten about. That is, until this day, when pre-check caught it and called it out as a must-correct to compete line item. So here we are, an hour or two before the racers meeting, yet to have dinner, and doing everything we can as a team with all hands & jokes on deck to get the AWDROLA to the start line.

Post-race check on AWDROLA after @themint400… and honestly, we’re feeling good about it 😎🤙

Skid plate did its job. Control arms held up like champs. Overall, no major issues to report.

We did find the rear diff drain bolt got a little… reshaped 😅 plus a small leak. Pulled it apart, all gears accounted for (huge win), resealed it with Victor Reinz Gasket Maker, and we’re back in business.

Next up: new starter + extending that skid plate to cover more of the undercarriage. We’re not done yet.

It was Wednesday, March 4th, 3:10am. Race day was coming up on Friday, 3/6. Little did we know that when we hit the road 20 minutes after this, that the AWDROLA would be on the side of the freeway, without power…was that an omen?

Blood, sweat, and knee power, plus a few all nighters @shiftautoandoffroadoc is what it took to get the AWDROLA out to Las Vegas and much closer to making its debut at @themint400
