@saya.minami stopped by the studio while in Melbourne for her new feature.
She has a quiet presence, and I could sense a whole range of emotions sitting just under the surface. The session was about finding those moments and letting them show.
I also brought lights into frame, so the gear became part of the picture. A small nod to the movie star idea, without making it a costume. by @wrensteiner

@totbot came into the studio and it was an absolute joy to photograph her. She has a beautiful quirkiness that comes through in everything she does, so I leaned into it, finding the balance between her playfulness and my more static, considered look. by @wrensteiner

Dad, in Queensland. He doesn’t say yes to photos often, so I found the best light I could and kept it quick. Some of my photos are for work, some for fun, and some are just more personal. These two were with my son in mind, so he’ll have these memories in later years. by @wrensteiner

It was great to meet @haydenauber and was also a good real-world test of how accessible my space is, and I’m glad to say it held up well. Hearing about other people’s experiences, I know the world still isn’t built with wheelchairs in mind, so it matters to get this right.
Being new to photoshoots you wouldn’t have known it. He took direction really well and brought great energy to the whole session.
We also worked out we’d crossed paths earlier this year at an AFL game. Small city. Thanks for coming in, Hayden. by @wrensteiner

For @heatherlydesignbedheads, I photographed bestselling author @sallyhepworth in the room that has become her retreat from the demands of writing and family life. It was a largely pink room to work in, with a window sitting squarely in front of the bedhead, so the challenge was pushing light through it and keeping the space feeling calm and natural. by @wrensteiner

@lavipellegrini , originally from Milan, dropped by the studio and we had a great time making images together. Her energy was infectious with every frame that landed she'd comment with "bellissimo," which honestly made the whole session. by @wrensteiner

@studiodokolaglass is a boutique glassblowing studio. I lit it with a single source to emulate afternoon light, which gave each frame depth.

What held my attention was the team. Glassblowing runs on timing, and there's no room to drift. Everyone stayed locked in, preparing and shaping the glass in real time, moving together like a dance until the final piece emerged.

The process is physical, but the mental side stayed with me. That level of focus, heat and precision must be exhausting, and I found myself watching the concentration as much as the craft. by @wrensteiner

Working with the sun that wasn’t there. I used a 700W light outside the windows to recreate a low afternoon sun. A warm, relaxed feel for the bedroom that still feels genuinely lived in. @heatherlydesignbedheads by @wrensteiner
