My name is Jonelle Acom Clarke, and recently, I represented our Western Wrestling team at Western University’s Kinesiology Students Association’s annual Olympic Dreams event recently in late September as a veteran varsity member, one of last year’s team captains, and as an experienced high performance athlete. Olympic Dreams is an event meant to promote physical and mental well-being amongst elementary school students in the London area. Students are invited to spend the day at Alumni Stadium, accompanied by varsity athletes and student volunteers, as they participate in various sporting activities and games for a full day of outdoor fun. Each year, Olympic athletes and varsity athletes are invited to share their tips on health and wellness, teamwork, and leadership with the elementary students in attendance. It was a pleasure to speak to and with all these young aspiring athletes. It’s such a joy to hear their big goals and dreams, and how much they love to play their sport. It’s exciting to think that someday they could be our future Olympians. I’m grateful at the opportunity to be involved in this event and to bring attention and visibility to wrestling. And I hope that through this event I’ve inspired a new generation of athletes to pursue wrestling or other athletics long term, potentially discovering their love for high performance sport! . . . . . . . . . . #wrestlingcanada #freestylewrestling #womenswrestling #athlete #olympicdreams by @wrestlewestern
