Reading a @kasiewest book, that I purchased from my local indie @aliceeverafterbooks, on a beautiful day at the beach. 🏖️ Highly recommend this combo. 👍🏻 by @writeforapples

If you haven’t read a @caseyklyall book yet, you are missing out! This one has her trademark sense of humor that I love so much and is a great read aloud. 😊 by @writeforapples

If you’re an SCBWI member, you can now vote in the Crystal Kite awards! Let me know if you have a book on the list that I can check out. 😊 …………….. My book KISSES ARE INVISIBLE is in the New York Division in case you’d like to take a look. It’s a very special one to me, inspired by a question my (now 19-year-old) son asked when he was 4. ❤️ Good luck, all! @racwi_group @scbwiwestcentny @buffalokidlit …………… scbwi.org/crystal-kite by @writeforapples

This Black History Month, we continue to honor the stories that hold truth, resilience, and hope—stories that deserve to be read, shared, and celebrated.

Today we’re spotlighting "Pies from Nowhere: How Georgia Gilmore Sustained the Montgomery Bus Boycott" by Dee Romito ( @writeforapples ) ; illustrated by @laurafreemanart .

This powerful picture book tells the true story of Georgia Gilmore, a cook and activist who helped fuel the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Through her “Club From Nowhere,” she baked and sold pies to raise critical funds for the movement, proving that courage, community, and quiet determination can change history. A moving reminder that everyday people—and everyday acts—can make an extraordinary impact.
