Don’t get confused, we’re not squeezing two authors into one post! This fantastic author hailing from Leeds in the UK is our next guest announcement, so let’s welcome Steve Mosby AKA Alex North to the Iceland Noir family this year. Alex North found critical acclaim with his first novel The Whisper Man as a Sunday Times, New York Times and international bestseller. Published in 2019, it has already been translated into over 30 languages. With the recent release of The Whisper Man on Netflix (when we say recent, we mean three days ago!) starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, and Adam Scott, Alex’s work continues to reach new audiences. Before writing as Alex North he published ten crime novels as Steve Mosby, winning the Crime Writers' Association Dagger in the Library in 2012, an award which recognises an author's body of work and popularity with library users. A former Philosophy student at the University of Leeds, Steve later worked in the Department of Sociology and Social Policy before becoming a full-time writer. What are you waiting for? Grab those festival tickets before they’re gone: https://bit.ly/icelandnoirtix26 or see link in our bio. #writernorth #TheWhisperMan #icelandnoir #icelandnoir2026 #icelandnoirfestival #icelandliteraryfestival by @writernorth

I hope Netflix and Agbo will forgive me for posting this screenshot. I had two rescue cats - sisters - for many years. One of them died last year, after a really good innings at the age of 19. She was so brilliant. One of the stupidest creatures that ever lived, but made of pure love: she’d follow me everywhere, and would have been happy being stroked and cuddled 24 hours a day. The day she died, I was obviously heartbroken. But that evening, I got an email from the props department, wanting ideas for book titles for Tom’s character in the film. So there you go, Willow - you’re in a movie. by @writernorth

A few photos from my recent trip to New York for the premiere of The Whisper Man. It’s out on Netflix today - I’m really happy with how James, Ben, Chase, all the amazing actors, and all the people working on it behind the scenes handled the material. I really hope you enjoy it too! by @writernorth
