There’s been a lot of discussion on social media this week about the allegations of Sam Wood perpetrating serious DV against his wife Snezana. I’m seeing a lot of comments and opinions of people who are truly uninformed. Given my professional expertise and lived experience in this space, I do feel a responsibility to speak up and raise awareness. I’ve been commenting on posts where I can, but I’d like to to share some of these insights publicly here. I know this is a business page; however, I’ve never been quiet about my views and opinions related to perpetrators and survivors of domestic violence.

It turns out, after I posted this, the court hearing revealed that there has been at least one previous DVI. When I worked with offenders, I would often meet with a “first time” perpetrator of DV and he would adamantly claim “this was so out of character”. I would then request the DVI reports from the Police and find out there had been multiple call outs for this p by @writing__collective

Yesterday I finished a submission I’ve been working on for a client in Sydney the last two weeks. So that means I have the day off today. Just 4 friends, celebrating 4 years of business at 4pm. It was gloomy all day but at exactly 4pm, the sun started shining and we enjoyed the view of our pretty city while we ate too much, drank spritz and talked about everything. The Writing Collective is 4! 4️⃣4️⃣4️⃣4️⃣🎉🎉🎊 🎊A big thank you to all my clients. I wouldn’t have a business without you. I’ve met so many people and made connections all over Australia from building my business. Starting a business from scratch and investing your own money into something you have no idea will work is a pretty bad ass thing to do. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved but also grateful that the hustling paid off. What a beautiful Perth winter’s day. 23 degrees and sunny! ☀️☀️So much has changed in the last 5 years. I used to be a slave to the grind. We’re conditioned to wake up early, commute in traffic, go into work, eat in communal lunch rooms, fill out timesheets and sit at desks in pods. I didn’t enjoy life. I didn’t take care of myself and if I made time for fun, I’d end up exhausted or low in energy because work had already depleted me. It’s taken hard work, commitment and a strong hustle but I’ve finally found that balance of earning money and still having time to enjoy life. Here are some things I now have time to do almost everyday, that bring me joy:
1. 8am wake ups 🥱
2. My favourite drink from Starbucks 🥤
3. Burning scented candles in my home office while I work 🕯️💻
4. Eating lunch outside in the sun 🥗
5. Lake side afternoon walks 🚶‍♀️🌳🌊
6. Music always 🎧
7. Double scoop of chocolate ice cream in a cone from San Churros 🍦
8. Reading books in bed at night instead of scrolling 📖

I recently saw a psychologist on tv talking about micro interactions and how they keep people connected to their community. Especially the elderly or people who are socially isolated. Starbucks opened in my neighbourhood a year ago and there were a lot of haters saying they didn’t want to support an American franchise (I guess none of those people eat McDonalds or KFC 🙄🤷🏾‍♀️). However, I was really excited because I don’t drink coffee, so this meant I could finally drink my favourite caffeinated drink that’s only available at Starbucks - every day! (Strawberry açai refresher- try it) My morning routine is that after breakfast, I go to Starbucks to get my drink, then come home and start writing. Over the past year, the staff have gotten to know me. We all greet each other by name, they know my drink order and this week, they started writing messages on my cup. How cute is that? It’s amazing how something so little can have the potential to make someone feel seen. I’ve been quiet on the gram lately. 2026 has been all about the hustle 👊🏾. I feel so grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given. I don’t believe in god or luck or any of that stuff. But I do believe in the hustle. We’ve already signed another contract this year and I’m really looking forward to working on some big projects in the next couple of months! 📥📈📄📑
When I’m writing, I sit in a room all day and churn out work. There’s very little contact with the outside world! To break it up, I like to eat lunch outside in the sun ☀️ 🥗🧋. Especially during summer. I decided it was time to do a backyard make over which would allow me to enjoy the space more. I was holding on to things I shouldn’t have been. Aluminium chairs I bought 13 years ago when I first moved in and my Dad’s rusty old outdoor table. Dad valued nice things and I can just hear him saying, “Jesus Christ Sarita! What are you holding on to that crap for?” 😆😆😆 🤦🏽‍♀️
