@people gave me a chance to discuss the life events that inspired The Outer Country. Revisiting that time helped me to understand the family dynamics that contributed to what happened. It also helped to have sympathy for everyone involved. A link to the essay is in my bio. by @writing_and_donuts

A few photos from my trip to NYC. It was a whirlwind in a rainstorm! I got to be on a panel at the @bkbookfest and visit the Penguin Random House office to hang with @mango_emoji and @clairegaritaville, and had dinner with @andylefkowitz! Also connected with wonderful friends, readers, and writers, including @dentonloving, @snowwhitebetty, @catherinelasota, @djinn_t0nic, @marlonjameswriter, @lexa.mari, and @edwidgedanticat! by @writing_and_donuts

As Pride month comes to a close, we want to return to one of our favorite queer characters: Ben from THE OUTER COUNTRY. This one's for the boy who grew up between dissonant languages, high expectations, unraveling grief, and love that changed shape as he grew up.⁣
⁣
To celebrate, and to honor the many queer stories and people who fill our shelves, we're giving away a finished copy of THE OUTER COUNTRY and one-of-a-kind art pieces from the author: a felt bookmark inspired by the cover and linocut print of Ben!⁣
⁣
To enter for a chance to win:⁣
✨ Follow @oneworldbooks and @writing_and_donuts⁣
✨ Like this post⁣
✨ Tag a friend you're excited to grow with!⁣
⁣
[NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to U.S. residents 18+. One winner will be selected at random and contacted via Instagram DM by @oneworldbooks. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Entries open until 11:59PM (ET) on 6/30/26.] by @writing_and_donuts

Another June, another @caltechedu graduation! Always so impressed by each generation of students who make it through. And among this year’s group are the survivors of the recent devastating fires and far too many budget cuts. by @writing_and_donuts
