Sometimes it’s hard to promote your own book, so I let my three-year-old daughter step in as social media manager. The Second Chance Cinema is in paperback with this pretty, toddler-approved cover on 9/8 (and you can preorder in my bio now).

The story follows a couple who watches their most cinematic moments back like old films. Speaking of which, if you could watch a single memory from your life this way, what would you choose? 🎞️✨ by @writtenbythea

Voting early feels good! If you’re in Denver, your ballot might already be in your mailbox. I spent some time filling mine out this morning, dropping it off, and going for an autumn park walk. 💙

I can’t believe The Second Chance Cinema has been out for a year! I know I’ve said it before, but my favorite part of this experience has been hearing about your memories (and which ones you would love to watch back inside a vintage cinema).

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing them with me and reading this book. 🎉🎂

Welcome to a whimsical museum on wheels. Inside, you’ll find hundreds of tiny drawers containing forgotten treasures. There are buttons and doll limbs, fake foods and handwritten letters. A memory might latch on as you feel everything in your hands, then get on your knees to wiggle open a secret compartment.

I started my experience without a mission, but soon found myself seeking out objects that reminded me of the holidays with my father. I ended up making a flat lay photo of objects that I can’t wait to share.

As someone who wrote a magical realism book about a vintage cinema that plays memories (including a main character who writes about forgotten places), this museum was actually a dream. 🎞️✨

I’m the magical realism author of The Second Chance Cinema, which means I spend a lot of time listening to dreamy, surreal music to set the scene. Here are four of my favorite albums! 🎞️✨

I got my start as an advertising copywriter, and I’ve been searching for the next Mad Men for the longest time! Luckily, it’s here. If Not You by @ellenoclover captures the electricity of being in the room while big campaigns are brainstormed (and falling in love in the process). I ADORED this one and can’t wait for you to read it. Happy pub day, Ellen! 💕

A lot of memories went into writing this book about, well, memories. I’ll press pause on telling you what The Second Chance Cinema is about and share what happened behind the scenes instead. 🎞️✨

If you’re curious about the plot part, good news. It’s now in paperback!

The paperback of The Second Chance Cinema comes out on my anniversary tomorrow, September 8! In honor of that, I’m sharing the very real meet cute of how I met my husband. As for the friend? She’s still one of my closest people. Talk about some real-life magic! ❤️🎞️✨

My novel started with a feeling before it was even an idea. I’ve always been drawn to stories that feel cinematic and nostalgic, especially when they explore memory and forgotten parts of ourselves.

So if you love things like Nora Ephron movies, red-velvet cinemas, In Five Years, and a scene that really makes you cry (all in one magical realism debut), I wrote this for you!

The Second Chance Cinema paperback hits bookshelves on 9/8. Share it with a friend who would ❤️ it, too.

✨ COMMENT with a memory, and I might send you this book. But here’s the catch: You don’t get to keep it.

We’re going to build an archive of your memories inside the cover of The Second Chance Cinema (paperback out 9/8). I’ll pick one person at random and mail this copy. If that’s you, write a memory inside, post a photo, and hand deliver it to a friend.

Feels pretty fitting for a book about a cinema that screens memories to have some memories of its own. I’ll reach out on 9/4 if you’re picked! All instructions will be inside the cover. 💕 by @writtenbythea
