Saving Sanseverias & Somerville

So in my friend’s yard I see this nice Sansevieria aka Snake Plant in the corner with grass growing out it. Violating her space.
🐍🪴
Though super hardy and top 3 for beginners, Sansevierias don’t have deep roots, and that grass was gonna take over and choke her out eventually.

Let me tell it, people and plants exchange energy like all living things do. I could just feel it knew I was different. As I approached, the song you hear, which I was recently put up on, popped up in my head. Like it was singing to me…

I listened and asked the homegirl if I could take her to my wellness center and get her right. Now here shes ready to go back…breathing easy and back in her power. No more suffocation just sunlight, peace… and a little love.

Day 160: A Hard Reset and Baby Steps
💪🏾
On September 27, 2024, my doctors did a hard reset and returned me to my factory settings.
Fast forward 160 days, and here I am, getting my first round of immunizations again like a whole newborn. Somebody get me a @shoplanative onesie lol They have me set up to get 3 a month for the next 14 months. 😩 sounds like a lot huh?
💉👶🏾
You’d think after 8 months of chemo, weekly labs, 17 tattoos and a stem cell transplant, I’d be cool with needles by now. Nope, they still make me flinch. The silver lining? If I’m getting shots, that means my body is doing what it’s supposed to do…healing, rebuilding, and getting back to normal.
🙏🏾💪🏾
There is joy in the pain of every needle prick. A reminder that I’m still here, still fighting, and still surrounded by love. Thanks always to my village for all the prayers, jokes, and support. We’re moving forward, one baby step at a time.

Although we not out of the woods yet, its encouraging to see blue skies and the haze cleared.

To me these stories being told in the aftermath are way more heartbreaking than the fire itself.

Woke up to smelling the smoke in my house. Went outside to dramatic sunrises, hazy skies, ashes falling from the sky covering my car and floating in the air. I almost felt like i needed a mask and goggles on!

Had to take Rainey to the bus stop this morning and these are a few shots from around View Park and the Crenshaw District.

My sons school Palisades was hit pretty hard too. Luckily, he is still out on break for another week. Shout out to the Dolphins!

Okay so this is the last I’ll be on this for a whille then back to my previously regular boring life.

Anyone that has been through treatments or knows someone that has, knows the significance of ringing the bell. It definitely represents a serious milestone. Some days I’d be laid up in the bed and hear people get sent off and the bell echoing through the hallway. Every single time I’d smile for the person and be like damn I can’t wait to do that shit! My day was a moment I still can’t describe.

When I looked up what it meant to do it, the description was so exact. It said…”Ringing the bell is an emotional and triumphant celebration of all the patient has accomplished - conquering fear, persevering through uncertainty, enduring adversity and hardship, and hanging on to hope with strength and a strong will to live.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

I have to give a final shoutout to @cityofhope and their amazing facility and staff. While my tribe held me down spiritually and mentally the super dope team of Day Hospital nurses were there every one of my 15 days holding me down physically. Their support and honesty was the other piece of me pulling through. Though I’ll never forget y’all I never wanna see you again either lol this Jack has hit the road with no plans to come back no more no more!

I know I keep saying it but thank you to my friends and family for all the prayers, calls, texts, comments, and gifts. No gesture was missed, taken for granted or went unappreciated.
