We’re usually so mesmerized by the creatures we encounter underwater that we completely forget to take photos. But sometimes we’re lucky enough to have talented underwater photographers on board who are willing to share their shots with us – as was recently the case with Jose from @biology_for_divers .
Some of these creatures are incredibly hard to spot on a dive – and even harder to capture! Now, who’s nerdy enough to name the critters in slides 1, 2, 4 and 8? 👀 Show it off in the comments!

Octopuses are masters of camouflage. They can change their color, pattern, and even the texture of their skin to blend in with their surroundings. Interestingly, octopuses are generally considered color blind, but they can still camouflage extremely well using a different kind of visual system. They also use a cloud of ink to confuse predators when they need to escape.

🗣️Meet Sarah🗣️
If she’s your Cruise Director, don’t be surprised if conversations around the dinner table switch from one language to another in the blink of an eye, with Sarah happily translating along the way (some of her friends have nicknamed her „dictionary“ for exactly that reason). While she does speak Indonesian, she’s just as lost as everyone else when the crew switches to Manggarai, Bajo, or one of the many other local languages spoken around Komodo.
