Introducing IF YOU’VE GOT IT, HAUNT IT by Lana Wren!

Death is calling, and he’s not one to be ghosted…🔮

Madame Viola Starbloom is an internet sensation. She offers palm readings, tarot card deciphering and of course, the ability to contact loved ones passed.

She is also a fraud.

But on Halloween night, when streaming one of her popular spooky season episodes, she gets a real call from the dead. This time she has no option to decline, someone wants to speak to her and their unfinished business can’t wait for voicemail…

We’re so excited to be publishing this spooky romcom on 27 August 2026! by @harpernorthuk

Last summer, I started writing this book looking out at this gorgeous view. Inspired by St Ives and everything I love about the town. This week, I brought the finished novel back to celebrate. It publishes on Thursday this week, in paperback, ebook and audiobook, and it is my love letter to the most wonderful place on earth.

I don’t know what the future holds for this book, but I know that I poured my heart into the story. When you read it, I hope you hear the seagulls and the distant rumble of the sea, smell the salt and scent of freshly baked bread, and feel the hope that St Ives inspires.

I’m so proud of #AndThenThereWasYou!

AND THEN THERE WERE SIX… I’m thrilled to reveal the title and absolutely stunning cover of my sixth Dr Cora Lael crime-thriller: THE STOLEN DEAD!

It’s Cora’s most personal case yet and the most terrifying. It will push her, DS Rob Minshull and the detectives of South Suffolk CID to breaking point and throw lives into the balance…

It will be published on 6th November by @hera_books and is available to preorder NOW (links in my bio). The lovelies at Tea Leaves and Reads will be offering a special signed edition book box with bookmark and exclusive Author Notes.

Thanks to the brilliant design team at @we.are.head.design for another stunning cover - I love it!

Here’s the blurb:

‘I found you… You’re mine!’

A frenzied whisper on a shingled beach summons Dr Cora Lael’s attention during a Sunday morning run with DS Rob Minshull, leading to a shocking discovery: a body, stabbed through the heart, a bizarre collection of beachcombed pebbles, shells and sea pottery arranged over the wound.

Days later, a second body is discovered, arranged in the same way. The press quickly dubs the killer The Beachcomber, and Cora, Minshull and the detectives of South Suffolk CID are thrown headlong into a desperate race to find a murderer before more lives are stolen.

And when a face from Cora’s past makes a sudden reappearance - and she hears the same possessive phrase from his belongings - she is forced to consider a terrifying possibility: could the serial killer’s identity be closer to home?

I can’t wait for you all to read it! Let me know what you think of the cover and title in the comments and please share!

Weeks of a cold virus thing have meant my writing has taken a battering, the words I wanted to write reduced to days where I felt vaguely human again. But I'm back at last, writing the final chapters of the first draft of my Secret Thriller.

The hiatus and slow progress have been so frustrating, especially as I'm at the stage of the first draft where I'm usually writing so fast to catch up with my speeding brain. But the thinking time not being able to write has afforded me is really paying off in the writing now. I've *had* to think about this story, to consider every twist and reveal and loose end. I've returned to my notebook to handwrite plot notes and spent time going over the finale of the book to make it as tight, twisted and thrilling as I can.

Even after seventeen years and twenty-two published novels, I'm learning ways to craft a story!

Wish me words and send tea, lovelies. Onwards!

Yesterday marked ten years since I lost my Dad. This lovely, daft, funny, absolute darling of a man who sparkled and worried and overthought his way through life, who could reduce people to tears of laughter with his endless tales but never really believed he was as special as everyone knew he was.

Grief is a total git and I can't say his loss is any easier to bear, ten years on. But what it's oddly gifted me is perspective on who Dad was. The battles he fought, the history that shaped him, and his utter love for acting, where he could be anyone he chose to be.

I'm so proud that he got to live his lifelong dream of being an actor during the last 19 years of his life. Walking on film sets, finding his light, winning an army of fans in the casting, costume, make-up and production departments of popular TV shows like Doctors, Father Brown, Hustle, Line of Duty, Life On Mars and The Village, becoming a request artist for several of them.

I promised him that if the crime series I was writing was ever adapted for TV, I'd write him a part. While he never got to see my Dr Cora Lael series published, he's in every book as Brian Hinds, Chief SOCO. I reckon he'd have rocked the role.

I miss him, every day. Ten years feels like no time at all and a hundred years at once. Love you, Dad.

Lovelies, guess what? I actually wrote my newsletter this month! Yes, I know! Follow the link in my bio to read all about my writer life lately, including two gorgeous serendipities that restored my love of writing (one of which is 99p for the whole of October, hint, hint...) and why I appear to have Gone A Bit Viral...

Let me know what you think! (Once you've recovered from the shock of reading it, of course...) 👻💕

Lovelies! Fancy a SPOOOOOKILY GOOD bargain? If You've Got It, Haunt It, my kooky, spooky, Halloween-set rom-com, is only 99p in ebook for the whole of October!

It has a fake psychic who doesn't believe in ghosts, a handsome ghost who doesn't believe he's dead, a seven-day deadline to avoid oblivion and a record store that hides a speakeasy for almost-departed spirits. Oh, and a gorgeously fluffy pale grey cat called Gekkou, who can't understand why his Human is bickering with a See-Through Man...

If that sounds like fun, grab yourself an e-BOOk that'll lift your SPIRITS! It's a SPOOKtacular read!

(The ghost puns are going to be many this month. I regret NOTHING.) 👻💕

What a weekend! I've only just managed to get my thoughts together after the gorgeous @tealeavesandreads Literary Festival (and steal everyone's photos as I failed to take any of my own...)

This one is always special because at its heart is a bookshop and booksellers loved by a vibrant, engaged, brilliant community of real readers. We love Katy and William and their incredible team of volunteers, so the festival is a real celebration of that.

I was delighted to be asked to host three panels across the weekend, with a total dream of an author line-up:

💕Writing Desire & Connection in Romantic Fiction - with @themillyjohnson @suemoorcroftauthor @beckyhunterbooks and @alexneve1, four utter queens of the genre!

🔪The Thrill of the Kill: Crime & Thriller Fiction - with @heather.critchlow @jesskitchingwrites @lv_matthews_author and @samhollandbooks, a dream-team of thriller authors!

🥰Feel-good Fiction Focus - with @hollyh_author @janelambertbooks and @staceymcneillauthor, three brilliant authors of heartwarming tales!

It was so lovely to meet readers and soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful festival, and fab to chat with author friends old and new. Lovely to see @liz_fenwick @therosiewalsh @cescamajorauthor @emmarae.author @georginamooreauthor @katefranceswrites @ajwestauthor @authorbythesea1207 @ecwilsonauthor and more. I signed stacks of books, too! I was battling the lurgi, with a fast-vanishing voice, but this weekend was the tonic I needed.

Thank you Katy & William, for inviting me and to all the team for making the festival such a huge success.

(Thanks to everyone whose photos I shamelessly nicked!)
