We look carefully when referencing technology as "dead machines." Technological systems do not follow the human lifecycle — they exist within a configuration sustained by human energy, cooling systems, and queries. By embedding found global funeral footage, mourning traditions, and burial rites directly into monumental memory structures, we construct a living testament. This warehouse teaches future biogenetically modeled entities or non-human intelligence how fear and reverence of death defined the mortal species before its code expired.

The fear of death encapsulated in a dead environment. Why does death define what is human? Fearing and Respecting death is a biological trait around which humans built entire cultural structures that basically defined us as humans, and separated us from other animals. Just think about what made us develop technically so far: memory, traditions. The idea that something can go on even after the tomb, that something can be remembered, stored..That’s why the attraction to “dead” machines or “dead” stocks of data is quite paradoxical.

The act of storing is human because as an act itself we do it because we fear loss, death etc. But the concept of storage, of a data center, that can indeed exist without humans to guard it, gives that empty, liminal and dead sensation, even if it contains what is most precious for humans. “Storing what is most human in the most humanless space, showing humanity in the machine and death in the human practices”. In some way, by making these videos “revive” in a data center, we create a bridge between biology and machines, helping both future and contemporary humans to understand more of themselves.
