New spot of public, first sit in and I almost get the shot, 30 yards but something had him spooked as the second picture he’s looking down hill, a solid pushing 140” 10 point. I’ll be back in there soon by @wv_hillbuck

I’ve been drawn to Selfbows bc of @clayhayeshunter videos over the years. But now having one that’s hunt worthy and shoots incredibly hard, I’ve became even more drawn to them, almost as if I only care to hunt with them and wood arrows going forward. Now, im taking making them more serious, it’s my goal to be able to make my own to hunt with. It’s a feeling I can’t explain, our ancestors used these such tools to survive, and I promise when I carry and shoot it, it pierces the heart “my heart” almost as if I feel that connection to my ancestors #ancestors #stickbow #traditionalbow #selfbow #selfbowbuilding by @wv_hillbuck

Love being out in, hearing the distance flow of a stream, standing in the middle feeling the water rush around your boots. #outdoors #stream #wildlife #shedhunting by @wv_hillbuck

In 2019 I was working on pipeline in the mountains here in WV. The evenings provided me with enough time to go fishing at Sutton Lake. This was Sept 3rd, I was beating the bank flipping a jig. Sutton lake is between some extremely steep mountains, as I was fishing I heard the awfullest commotion on the opposite side of lake mountain slope. I figured it was tree that fell and was sliding down the mountain, and then I heard a splash. I turned to look and knew it was a buck. I couldn’t tell how big I honestly thought that he was a small 6 point or so, but he began swimming across the lake toward me. I could hear a boat coming so I fired up my boat to keep him out of the center of the channel push him back to the bank he came from. I would have never known a deer was that fast in the water. With the tree branch in his head, I truly think maybe a bear got after him and he ran down mountain and he just couldn’t get stopped. I would have never dreamed when I heard the splash that a 130” 8 point was the product of that. #appalachianmountains #bassfishingnation #bigbuck by @wv_hillbuck

18 year old me, October 19, 2001 first year hunting with a Trad Bow, and was successful. I didn’t think at that time I did anything special, all I knew was I’d fallen in love with traditional archery. I had no coach, no mentor and no YouTube. All I knew was snap shooting bc I was self taught, but with a 60# bow 2117 aluminum at that time and out to 25 yards, it was dead. #traditionalarchery #stickbow #deerhunter by @wv_hillbuck
