Day 1 of the 2026 WWKIDS Education Conference is in the books, and what a wonderful way to begin! 💛📚

Our first day focused on building strong foundations for literacy, with educators exploring brain plasticity, phonemes and graphemes, sound manipulation, practical literacy resources, and tools they can take back to their classrooms.

One teacher, Sheisha Palmer-McLean, of Morgan's Pass Primary School in Clarendon, captured her Day 1 experience beautifully in a poem:
A Poem by Sheisha Palmer-McLean
"Thanks for the exposure to skills in literacy.
Showing us the fact of brain plasticity.
Reminding us of Phonemes
and how they relate to Graphemes.
Letting us know about the Centre named COX.
Showing us how to manipulate the Sound Box.
With resources like GraphoGame.
May our teaching progress and never be the same."

What better reminder of why we are here?
Learning. Sharing. Practising. Taking it back to the classroom.

Thank you to every educator, presenter, facilitator, partner, and supporter who helped make Day 1 so meaningful.

Day 2, we’re ready for you! 💫

📣 Parent Testimonial Time! 💬❤️

We love hearing from the parents we serve — and this one had us smiling from ear to ear:

🌟 Full Circle Moment in St. Margaret’s Bay, Portland 🌟

Last month, we stopped for a quick bite at a cozy eatery in St. Margaret’s Bay, Portland — and were served with kindness and a smile by a lovely mom. 💛

May 9, we popped back in for lunch… and guess what? She lit up when she saw us!

✨ “Since you introduced me to Graphogame, my kids can’t stop using it! They’re sounding out everything — It’s making a real difference.” ✨

Her joy was real, and so was ours. It’s moments like these that remind us: small conversations can lead to BIG change. 📚🌱

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Literacy isn’t just about letters — it’s about family bonding, confidence, and joy.

Tag a parent who needs to hear this today! 👇 Learn more about the 2023 UNESCO award-winning Graphogame App UK English version in our bio

🎶💃🏽 WHO SAID PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CAN'T BE FUN?! 🇯🇲😂

Day 2 of the 2026 WWKIDS Education Conference, and facilitator Romen Griffiths understood the assignment! 🔥👏🏽

What was supposed to be a 15-minute stretch break turned into a room full of movement, laughter, energy and some serious FUN! 💃🏽🕺🏽

And our visiting US educators? Oh, they weren't about to miss out! 🇺🇸🇯🇲😂 They joined right in, proving that when the Jamaican vibes kick in, everybody gets involved!

Because learning is serious business, but that doesn't mean we can't have FUN along the way!
Sometime, all it takes is a little movement, a good laugh and a chance to recharge before getting back to the business of helping our children learn. 📚💛

Romen, @romengriffiths, thank you for bringing the ENERGY and reminding us that joy belongs in learning too! 🙌🏽

What a way to invest in Jamaica’s future! 📚✨

The Best in Literacy Brought straight to Jamaica's 🇯🇲 Future Teachers

Through the generosity of Harvey Hubbell V and The Schwartz Family Foundation, up to 80% of Day 1 participants at the 2026 WWKIDS Education Conference were able to attend through sponsorship.

Among them were student teachers from Church Teachers’ College, all of whom were fully sponsored.

Participants were introduced to the Science of Reading, with a focus on explicit, structured teaching, foundational literacy skills, and how the brain learns to read.

This is what impact looks like: making quality professional learning more accessible and helping prepare the next generation of educators with knowledge they can carry into their classrooms.

Thank you for investing in teachers and future teachers. When educators are better prepared, children win, classrooms win, communities win, and Jamaica wins. 💛

Together, we empower brighter futures! 💛

Stronger Teachers. Stronger Students. Stronger Jamaica. 🇯🇲

💛🌈 PARENTS, YOU WERE AMAZING! 🌈💛

Our conference did not stop with teachers! 🎉💙

As an extension of the WWKIDS Annual Education Conference, we welcomed families to our Parent Workshop, “Understanding How Your Child Learns,” with Dr. Karine Clay of Higher Potential for Learning. 🧠✨

Over 50 parents and caregivers joined us on September 30 and October 3 for meaningful conversations about learning differences, neurodiversity, and practical ways to support their children.

Dr. Clay shared valuable insights and selections from her book, The Amazing Adventures of Gritty and Friends: Embracing Our Differences. 📚

Families also enjoyed an inspiring excerpt from Dislecksia: The Movie. Special thanks to Harvey Hubbell V for generously sharing his film! 🎬💙

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, a timely reminder that understanding learning differences, early identification, and the right support can change a child's learning journey.

Every child learns differently. Every child has potential. Every child belongs! 💛

We were also delighted to bring this workshop to St. Jude's Primary School, in collaboration with the 180 Degree Foundation. Thank you to the school community and our partners for the warm welcome! 🤝

Parents play a powerful role, and when families and teachers learn together, children win! 🌟 🇯🇲

Together, we empower brighter futures! 💛

🌟 FACILITATOR SPOTLIGHT! 🌟
Every great breakout session has someone beside the teachers, helping the learning land. At the 2026 WWKIDS Annual Education Conference, that was our facilitators. 💛

👏🏽  ROMEN GRIFFITHS, Crescent Primary School, St. Catherine
Our Call to Facilitator winner! Romen answered the call and then showed up for his fellow educators, moving between tables, answering questions and helping teachers turn strategies into classroom practice. Congratulations, and thank you! 🙌🏽
👏🏽 Monique Duncan, Literacy Consultant and former Literacy Specialist, Trinity School
Years of literacy expertise, shared one conversation at a time.
👏🏽 Kimberly Ruggiero, The Southport School
Guiding teachers step by step as they turned strategies into classroom ready tools.
👏🏽 Dr. Karine Clay, Clinical Psychologist, Higher Potential for Learning
Helping educators understand the learner behind the behavior.

They moved between tables, answered questions, explained ideas in new ways and made sure no teacher left with a concern unanswered. 🙌🏽

THANK YOU for being in the learning with us. 🇯🇲💛
Stronger Teachers. Stronger Students. Stronger Jamaica.

At WWKIDS, we want educators to leave with more than information. We want them to leave saying:
“I can use this in my classroom tomorrow!” 🙌🏽📚

🧠🚀 JEFF RUGGIERO: HELPING OLDER STUDENTS MANAGE THE WORK OF LEARNING

"I know how to do it. I just can't seem to get started."
For some older students, that sentence tells us a LOT. 👀

On Day 3 of the WWKIDS 2026 Annual Education Conference, Jeff Ruggiero of The Southport School and The Southport CoLAB helped educators look beyond academics alone and examine the executive function skills students need to start, organize, plan, monitor and complete their work.

Working with our Grades 7 to 11 educators, Jeff explored classroom structure, diverse learners, and embedded behavior supports before moving into practical strategies for building greater independence.

Think two column notes with closed notes summaries, breaking assignments into the first move, planning backwards from a due date, and giving students a simple way to self check their progress. These weren't just ideas to hear about. Teachers were challenged to adapt a tool for a real student and a real assignment.

Because helping an adolescent succeed isn't always about giving them more work. Sometimes, it's about explicitly teaching them how to manage the work already in front of them. 💡
That's executive function in action. 🧠➡️🎯

At WWKIDS, we want educators to leave with more than information. We want them to leave saying:
“I can use this in my classroom tomorrow!” 🙌🏽📚

🧠✨ DR. BEN POWERS: BUILDING INDEPENDENCE STARTS WITH THE RIGHT SUPPORT

What if the behavior we see is really telling us something about the learning? 👀

Day 3 of the WWKIDS 2026 Annual Education Conference brought Dr. Ben Powers of The Southport School and The Southport CoLAB into an important conversation about executive function, engagement, and what children need to successfully manage the work of learning.

For our Grades K to 6 educators, Dr. Powers took the conversation straight into the classroom. How do we structure participation? Help children move through transitions? Recover from frustration? Remember what comes next? And gradually become more independent learners?

Teachers explored practical tools including routine audits, first move task boards, backward planning calendars and student self checks. Importantly, they also worked on adapting those tools for something they already teach.

Because sometimes a child doesn't need to be told to "try harder." They need us to make the path to success a little clearer. 💡💛

Research ➡️ Strategy ➡️ Practice ➡️ Independence.
That's Day 3 at WWKIDS! 🇯🇲📚

At WWKIDS, we want educators to leave with more than information. We want them to leave saying:
“I can use this in my classroom tomorrow!” 🙌🏽📚

🧠📚 Start of DAY 1: HOW DOES THE BRAIN LEARN TO READ?

"It's Never Too Late, but Earlier is Better." That powerful message set the tone for Day 1 as Dr. John J. Russell opened the WWKIDS 2026 Annual Education Conference with a keynote that brought the science of reading right into the classroom.

One of the biggest takeaways? The brain can change. Through brain plasticity and the right kind of explicit, intentional instruction, teachers have the ability to help students build and strengthen the pathways needed for reading. And while early intervention gives children the strongest start, struggling later does not mean learning has to stop.

Dr. Russell connected prevention and intervention, reminding educators that they are not two separate conversations. He also explored why language and background knowledge matter, and brought the research to life with practical examples of explicit instruction in action.

💡 Earlier is better. But it is NEVER too late.
That is exactly what From Research to Practice is all about: understanding the science, then giving teachers the knowledge and strategies to change what happens for a child in the classroom. 💛🇯🇲

That's what moving From Research to Practice looks like! 🇯🇲💛

No lectures. Just learning that works. At the 2026 WWKIDS Education Conference, we listened to educators' real classroom challenges and responded with hands-on practice, coaching, and a variety of strategies and tools that teachers built themselves and took back to their classrooms the very next week.

At WWKIDS, we want educators to leave with more than information. We want them to leave saying:
“I can use this in my classroom tomorrow!” 🙌🏽📚
